Future studies are needed t examine ther psychlgical cmpnents f instrumental helping, including what emtins underlie a child’s mtivatin t help dgs, hw culture shapes these mtivatins, and hw these prcesses change as a child grws lder.

In that split secnd, the cat's eyes lcked n t mine. I culd see he was panicking and needed help right away. And althugh the bus was nisy, I was certain that I heard his terrified mew. Smehw, I managed t stand up, directly disbeying

Everyne stpped talking and lked at me, waiting. “There ... There’s ... a cat in the drain.
I ... want t g get him.” I stammered, hlding ut a shaking hand and pinting. Mrs. Fster, much t my surprise, didn’t shut at me and instead, ndded apprval. Withut the slightest hesitatin, I rushed ut int the rain, dashed t the drain and grabbed the cat. With the little creature wrapped up in my warm jacket, I raced back t the bus, nly t be greeted with thunderus applause and cheers frm the ther kids. Thanks t the kitty, that day, I learned t speak up and t vercme my shyness.
