Suth Gergia Medical Center (SGMC) hnred a team f nurses fr the May DAISY (雏菊) Award fr extrardinary nursing care. Chris Schauteet, Cristin Bryans, and Danya Shealy were amng the hnrees recgnized fr their wrk in creating a mst memrable patient experience.
The patient, Laurie Gulliksen, had been receiving inpatient chemtherapy (化疗) since December f 2022. During this time the staff became very clse with her. On Friday, April 21, the patient received her last treatment and was scheduled t g hme. The research team built a mdel based n tw satellite datasets: ne f nighttime light pllutin and ne f cean clr, which reveals the water’s ptical prperties. The mdel prjects hw nighttime light pllutin abve the water’s surface will enter and be absrbed underwater. The results shw the depths t which marine species culd be expsed t light sufficient t cause a bilgical respnse.
The study gives researchers a guide t where they shuld fcus future studies f the effects f artificial light n marine life. Smyth said the study highlights areas where ecsystems are particularly stressed by artificial light.
The scientists fund that 1.9 millin square kilmeters f the cean experience bilgically significant amunts f artificial light pllutin t a depth f 1 meter.
