A recent study frm Penn State has indicated that interactive screen time such as texting’ and gaming is harmful t adlescents’ sleep. The research casts light n hw different types f screen usage can variably impact sleep patterns in teens.
The study was fcused n the sleep habits f 15-year-lds. And it was nt just interactive screen time befre bed that affected kids’ sleep, said the researchers. Fr each hur that kids spent playing vide games beynd their usual rutine during the day, their sleep was delayed fr abut 10 minutes.
“Fr a child, lsing 30 minutes f sleep at night is significant. It makes it especially arduus fr them t get up in the mrning fr schl,” said lead authr f the study and pstdctral schlar David Reichenberger. “Withut enugh sleep, kids are at increased risk f besity, as well as pr cgnitin (认知), emtin regulatin and mental health.”
