M: I spend a lt f my time with sea animals, trying t learn what things they need in the envirnment. If we knw what they need, we can help them survive. And part f my wrk is t rescue sea animals when they get int truble with pllutin.
W: Can yu tell us smething abut them?
M: Yes. f curse. I still remember we tried t save sme seabirds that had il n their wings last year. They culdn’t fly. They culdn’t eat the fish because the fish were cvered with il. And, last weekend, my wrkmates and I saved a turtle that swallwed a small plastic bttle. And a whale died after it ate a plastic clth a shrt time ag.

M: I became interested in sea animals at twelve after a ne-mnth trip t the beach. In 2016, when I was in high schl, 1 saw a dcumentary called A Plastic Ocean. After watching it, I realized that I wanted t prtect sea animals. S I studied marine bilgy at the university……

An internatinal team f scientists has reprtedly created the superbanana that cntains mre vitamin A.
Lacking vitamin A has been a serius prblem in sme places in Africa and Sutheast Asia. It is harmful t children’s grwth and it causes blindness. Withut absrbing enugh vitamin A, children get ill easily.
Accrding t the Wrld Health Organizatin, 190 millin preschl-aged children wrldwide lack vitamin A. Luckily, a cheap slutin t the prblem may be available in the very near future.
The Banana21 prject was launched in Uganda in 2005, and after 18 years f hard wrk and failed attempts, a team f researchers frm the African cuntry’s Natinal Agricultural Research Labratries and Australian agricultural scientist James Dale wrked tgether t create a type f banana capable f saving millins f children’s lives.
Accrding t Natinal Gegraphic, the superbanana is ready t be planted in Uganda, but scientists are still waiting fr apprval frm the lcal gvernment. The prblem f lacking vitamin A may disappear ne day by prviding the superbanana fr peple.
