    Why d we say “It’s nt t win but t take part that cunts”?It’s a phrase supprted by the funder f the mdern Olympics Games, Pierre de Cubertin, wh said “The mst imprtant thing in the Olympic Games is nt t win but t take part, just as the mst imprtant thing in life is nt the triumph but the struggle.”

    Mst peple seem t agree that trying and failing is mre admirable than nt trying at all. In practice, thugh, mst peple seem nly t be interested in the medals.Many peple wuld say therwise. They say that effrt, determinatin and striving t reach a gal are wrth praising in themselves. It is cmmnly accepted that thrugh sprt ne learns t persevere, t sacrifice, t be self-disciplined, t wrk hard, t fllw rders, t be a leader, and t wrk with thers. Winning athletes are thse wh cmbine the gd behavirs with natural talent.
    There are ther gals t struggle fr apart frm a medal. Pierre de Cubertin himself cined the mtt “Citius, Altius, frtius” (“Swifter, Higher, Strnger”) fr his games.
    It is an ambiguus phrase, ne that culd be used t include managing t d smething as well as ging fr gld. Cmpetitin is nt unethical. It is reasnable that winners be rewarded, even if their victries have an element f chance (and all victries have); this is the essence f a game, and games are fundamental t humanity. Celebrating achievement is nt in itself unethical, but it can drive sme cmpetitrs t unethical behavir.
    Write a reflectin after cmpleting this unit. Cnsider the fllwing:
