    They didn’t regard them as humans but as animals, withut respecting them.

    On a grey afternn n 19 Nvember 1863, a tall, thin man munted a platfrm in a field in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and began t speak. The place was the site f a recent battle where thusands f sldiers had died. The man was Abraham Lincln, President f the United States f America and he was there in memry f the sldiers wh had died. The speech he gave was just 268 wrds lng and lasted tw minutes. But this address t the crwd changed the minds f his peple and helped shape a natin.

    The Battle f Gettysburg in 1863, which resulted in ver 50,000 casualties.

    Hw did Lincln describe the funding f the US?What challenges did the Civil War bring t the natin?
    It was a new natin cnceived in Liberty, and dedicated t the prpsitin that all men are created equal. / It aimed at bringing freedm t the peple and was based n the principle that all men are created equal.
    It wuld test whether a natin cnceived in Liberty and dedicated t the prpsitin that all men are created equal can lng endure.
    Hw did Lincln describe the men wh fught in the war?
    They gave their lives s that their natin might live. They were brave men whse struggles had cnsecrated the grund.
    What was the “great task” that Lincln described?Wh wuld be respnsible fr carrying ut the task?
    That this natin shall have a new birth f freedm; and that this gvernment f the peple, by the peple, fr the peple, shall nt perish frm the earth.
    The living shuld be dedicated t the task.

    He wanted t give the peple hpe, belief and a reasn t lk t the future.
    2. Lincln talked abut gvernment “f the peple, by the peple, fr the peple”. What des this mean?
    “Of the peple” means that gvernment shuld be made up f r drawn frm the peple; “by the peple” means that gvernment shuld be run by rdinary peple; “fr the peple” means that gvernment shuld use its pwer fr the peple’s benefit.

    In the first passage, dctrs r ther peple f different backgrunds wrked tgether s save peple in danger. In the secnd passage, Lincln called n the peple f the United States t strive fr a free natin where all men are equal.
    In English, prepsitins can be used t shw ideas in a clear and cncise way. An example is within the speech: “gvernment f the peple, by the peple, fr the peple”.
