EDGEWOOD — Every mrning at Dixie Heights High Schl, custmers pur int a special experiment: the district’s first cffee shp run mstly by students with special learning needs.
Well befre classes start, students and teachers rder Lattes, Cappuccins and Ht Chclates. Then, during the first perid, teachers call in rders n their rm phnes, and students make deliveries.
By clsing time at 9:20 a.m., the shp usually sells 90 drinks.

The shp is called the Dixie PIT, which stands fr Pwer in Transitin. Althugh sme f the students are nt disabled, many are, and the PIT helps them prepare fr life after high schl.
