    Step 1 Lead in
    The T can present the pictures f sme cmmn materials and elicit the definitin f “material” frm Ss. The T may use these prmpts:
    D yu knw what materials mean?
    Materials are things that can be made int different kinds f prducts.
    Can yu say any kinds f materials in daily life?
    The T may present the pictures f sme prducts made f the materials mentined befre and encurage Ss t talk abut what prducts are made f s that they can perceive the passive vice. The teacher can make a sample:
    ---What are the chpsticks made f?
    ---The chpsticks are made f wd.
    After Ss get familiar with the target structure, the T can present mre flash cards f target wrds and guide them t make cnversatins using the target structure.
    Step 2 Presentatin & Practice

    The T can make Ss talk abut the picture in 1a. The T may use these prmpts:
    What things d yu see in the picture?
    What are the things made f?
    What are the peple ding?

    The T can make Ss read the wrds in chrus and make sure they knw the meanings f the wrds. Then Ss finish the task in 1a . The T can check answers by making cnversatins with Ss r asking them d this in pairs like this:
    T: What are chpsticks made f?
    S1: They’re made f...
    S2: What is the windw made f?
    S3: It’s made f...
    Suggested answers:

    The T may want t extend the activity by asking Ss t identify ther
    bjects in the picture and say what they are made f.

    Befre listening, the T shuld make sure that Ss understand the requirement f the task. The T can help Ss understand by asking questins and write the frm n the blackbard:

    The T can use stratified teaching methd in this activity. Fr weaker Ss, the T can ask them t try predicting and matching befre listening s that they can be mre fcused when listening t check if their predictin is right. Fr high level Ss, the T can ask them t clse the textbk and fill in the frm and take ntes when listening.

    While listening, the T can play the recrding withut stp fr the first time and Ss finish the task in 1b. This step aims t develp Ss’ skills f grasping the target infrmatin. Then the T can play a secnd time t check Ss’ answers. This time, the T can stp at the key pint and check Ss’ answers by asking them t say the cmplete the sentence, fr example:
    The shirts are made f cttn. They were made in America.
    Answers:
    skirts—cttn—America
    chpsticks—steel—Krea
    ring—silver—Thailand

    While listening, the T may play the recrding a third time and ask Ss t repeat the key sentences. The T may als ask sme questins t cnslidate Ss’ understanding f the dialg:

    What are the shirts made f?(cttn)
    Where were they made?(America)

    The T can invite Ss t rle-play the cnversatin in 1c. Then the Ss
    can wrk in pairs t make cnversatins withut lking at the textbk . During this step, the T shuld pay attentin t the fluency f Ss’ speaking instead f the accuracy. Just ffer help t the Ss in need and dn’t ver crrect their small mistakes s that Ss can speak as much as pssible. The T shuld draw Ss’ attentin t the different tenses used t talk abut what a prduct is made f and where it was made.
    Nte: The Simple Present is used t say what a prduct is made f. This is because when we say what a prduct is made f, we are describing the current state f the prduct.
    e.g. The ring is made f silver.
    The chpsticks are made f steel.
    The Simple Past is used t talk abut where a prduct was made. This is because the prcess f making the prduct has been cmpleted.
    e.g. The ring was made in Thailand.
    The chpsticks were made in Krea.
    Step 4 Language pints learning
    glass n. 玻璃,是不可数名词。 a piece f glass 一片玻璃
    glass 还可用作可数名词,意为“玻璃杯,眼镜”。
    当“眼镜”用时,常用复数形式( glasses)。
    be made f 为“be+及物动词的过去分词+f”的被动语态结构,意为“由……制造;由……制作” 。强调从制成品中仍可以看出它的原材料。
    be made frm…意为“由……制成”,强调从制成品中看不出它的
    原材料。
    be made in…意为“在……制造”,介词in后常接产地。

    The hmewrk can vary with the specific cnditins.
    Summary The T can encurage Ss t summarize the key pints f this class t help Ss cnslidate the knwledge.

    Teaching Reflectin
    This is the first perid f the unit. Teaching new wrds and reviewing learned wrds thrugh physical display is an effective teaching methd. A picture is wrth a thusand wrds, which can nt nly give students mre input, but als stimulate students' learning enthusiasm. When checking the answers, teachers need nt rush t judge right r wrng. They shuld let students speak actively. This link is a gd pprtunity t practice the target language, and try t give students at all levels the pprtunity t speak. Guide students t pay attentin t the cmpsitin f passive vice. At this stage, it is OK t understand sentences withut explaining fr the time being s that students can accumulate mre perceptual knwledge in the stage f grammar perceptin.
