Grwing up, I understd ne thing abut my dad: He knew everything. In my teen years, he taught me things I’d need t knw t survive in the real wrld: hw t drive a stick shift, hw t check the car tyre’s（轮胎）pressure, and the crrect knife t use t cut a cantalupe.

The digital subscriptin was $59, the print subscriptin was $125, and the print plus digital subscriptin was als $125．N ne in their right mind wuld buy the print subscriptin when yu culd get digital as well fr the same price, s why was it even an ptin? Ariely ran an experiment and fund that when nly the tw “real” chices were ffered, mre peple chse the less-expensive digital subscriptin. Hwever, the bad ptin increased peple’s likelihd f selecting the expensive print plus digital ptin.
Brain scientists call this effect “asymmetric dminance” and it means that peple are attracted t the ptin that is clsest t an bviusly inferir（较差的）ptin. Marketing prfessrs call it the decy effect, which is certainly easier t remember. It wrks because f the way ur brain assigns value when making chices. Grwing up, I understd ne thing abut my dad: He knew everything. In my teen years, he taught me things I’d need t knw t survive in the real wrld: hw t drive a stick shift, hw t check the car tyre’s（轮胎）pressure, and the crrect knife t use t cut a cantalupe.
