Section A(3a-4c)一、教学目标(一)知识技能Target language: Before I could join the others outside to see what was going on, the first plane had already hit my office building.By the time I got to the airport, my plane to New Zealand had already taken off.Grammar: Know about the past perfect tense: had + v-edWords and expressions;Curriculum words: block, worker, stare, disbelief, above, burn (burnt, burnt), burning, alive, airport, till, west, cream, workday, pie, bean, market(2)Useful expressions: be about to do sth., in line with, show up, by the end of, go off, take off(二)过程方法According to listening to train the students' reading skill with target language.(三)情感态度Have you ever done anything carelessly? Share your story with your friends.二、学习策略Using background knowledge: carefully reading the first sentence in each paragraph can active your own knowledge of the topic and help you guess what the whole text is about.三、教学重难点教学重点:1.Guide the students to read the article in activity 3a.2.Help the students do the oral practice with the target language.教学难点:1.Help improve the students' reading skill by Activity 3a.2.Help the students describe what has happened to them with the target language.四、教学过程3a. To provide Ss with reading practice using the target language.Life-changing events The two events mentioned in the article were devastating different ways but they changed many people’s lives.3b. To give Ss practice in using the target vocabulary.Meaning and sentencesOnce Ss have found the opposite words individually, they can share the meaning of this word with a partner. In their pairs, they can come up with sentences using both words.3c. To give Ss an opportunity to practice speaking using the target language.What happened to you?In pairs, Ss will decide which event they would like to retell to their partner.4c. To give Ss the opportunity to write using the target language.Can you guess?Each S should think about their three statements and write them down. Remind Ss that two should be true statements and one should be false.
