There are tw distinctive types f electric buses making their way alng Nanjing Xi Lu, ne f Shanghai’s busiest rads. The first is a fleet f blue trlleybuses that serve bus rute number 20, a line set up by a British-run transprt cmpany in 1928. They use ples t receive electricity frm wires verhead and have kept the rute running in this way fr nearly a century. But while the histric electric buses are a reminder f Eurpe’s past technlgical innvatin, the new buses traveling alngside them are symbls f China’s cntemprary net-zer ambitin. These mdern electric buses pwered by lithium batteries (锂电池) , were intrduced in Shanghai in 2014. They ffer a smther ride, especially during starts and stps. Widely used acrss China, these buses are key t the cuntry’s EV transitin and are influencing the glbal shift twards green transprtatin.
The mst recent data available shws that China in 2018 was still the secnd largest surce f carbn dixide emissins in the glbal transprt sectr, respnsible fr 11%, and behind nly the United States, which accunted fr 21%. S far, hwever, the Chinese cities with the mst successful e-bus intrductin — such as Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai — all have mderate weather and are relatively flat. T take its e-bus campaign t the next level, China faces challenges. Fr ne thing, it is difficult t bring fleets t cities such as Hng Kng, which — like Lndn — have duble-deckers. Cld weather is a prblem, t, as it can make a battery’s charging time lnger and its range shrter. The reasn China has nt achieved 100% electrificatin fr its buses is its nrthern regins, which have cld winters, says Xue Lulu, a transprtatin expert at the Wrld Resurces Institute China.

B.By highlighting their rles in prtecting the envirnment and lasting use.
C.By fcusing merely n their technical details and perfrmance.
D.By explaining their peratinal challenges and requirements.
33.What d the numbers in paragraph 2 mainly shw?
A.The glbal impact f carbn dixide emissins.
B.The prgress f China in reducing CO2 emissins.
C.The different emissin levels f China and the USA.
D.The need fr mre gvernment supprt in e-bus market.
34.What factr cntributes t the slw adptin f electric buses in China’s nrthern regins?
A.Pr winter weather cnditins.B.Lack f transprtatin experts.
C.Shrt charging time f the battery.D.Heavier and bigger bus bdies.
35.Which clumn is the text mst prbably taken frm?
A.Wrklife.B.Culture.C.Travel.D.Earth.

It’s quite incredible hw a simple hbby can turn int a fulfilling and successful career. I want t share my jurney with yu, starting frm my lve fr phtgraphy. I used t take pictures f landscapes and peple during my free time. It was my way f capturing life’s beautiful mments and expressing my creativity. Little did I expect that this passin wuld lead t a career. Over time, I imprved my skills by experimenting with varius techniques and attending phtgraphy wrkshps. Friends and family began t ntice my talent and asked me t phtgraph their events. This was the turning pint. I started ding small jbs like capturing(拍摄) weddings, parties, and special mments. Wrd f muth quickly spread, and sn, I was in demand as a phtgrapher. As my client base expanded, s did my cnfidence and ambitin. I realized I culd turn my hbby int a full-time career. Hwever, this jurney had its challenges. The pressure f delivering perfect phts, the irregular incme, and the cmpetitin in the phtgraphy wrld tested my patience. Nw, I’ve established my wn phtgraphy business, specializing in prtrait(肖像) phtgraphy. I’ve traveled t beautiful places, met wnderful peple, and captured cuntless unfrgettable mments. My future plans include explring new types f phtgraphy, teaching ambitius phtgraphers, and cntinuing t find new ways t tell dmestic stries thrugh my camera.
14-17:
Welcme, everyne. Fr the past mnth. I’ve been planning yur English language curse. S, I’m very eager t start yur class this afternn. All week, we’ll be fllwing a language prgram develped by sme f the wrld’s best teachers. I’ve benefited frm learning this apprach directly frm these language teachers, and I’ve taught students in business, plitical, and academic grups fr decades. With yur dedicated attentin and practice, yu will greatly imprve yur language skills like the thusands f students wh have learned this curse.
Nw, the initial cncepts are abut gals, interests, and debates. While we first write dwn ur bjectives, we’ll fcus n what we want t gain frm this class and hw we’ll achieve it. Next, we’ll make interest-based lessn plans. Think abut hw easily yu learn abut favrite tpics. Fr me, this tpic is sprts, but maybe fr yu, this favrite tpic is art, music, etc. Just imagine the hurs that pass by while yu’re learning smething yu’re passinate abut. Nw, we’ll try that in yur target freign language. And after fllwing a vide and reading plans based n these interests, yu’ll debate these ideas in class.
This will be a great class, everyne. I can’t wait fr all the learning and prgress we’ll have tgether.
18-20:
Well, the next prduct I want t mve nt is children’s ty. In this part f building, we manufacture several different wden tys. But the greatest demand is fr ur train sets. These are made up f ten pieces and each piece is a different clr. It’s a ty fr the under-fives and it sells well. We manufacture 1.000 f these every week. Over here, we put all the tys int bxes. Because this is a prduct fr yung children, everything has t be very carefully checked in advance. S the average time it takes fr packaging is 5 minutes per bx.
We supply a lt f large department stres thrughut the cuntry. Orders are nt cnstant, but g up and dwn depending n what time f the year it is. S we try t keep abut 1,000 bxes in strage at any time. That’s the number that we have at the mment anyway. As I said, we deliver ur children’s tys t stres arund the cuntry. Outside, we’re just lading up the lrries which are ging t set ff tmrrw. That’s Nvember 3rd. then there wn’t be anther shipment until 10th, Nvember.
