    Read these sentences and analyze their structures.

    状语修饰动词、形容词、副词或整个句子。当状语为句子时即为状语从句,一般可以用来表示时间、地点、原因、结果等概念。
    Adverbial clauses
    初中的学习中,关于状语从句有两点要注意:一是状语从句中连词的选用,二是条件状语从句中的时态。1. 状语从句中连词的选用。 状语从句中连词的选用是由句子所表达的逻辑意义决定的。只要知道各种连词的意思和功能就能正确使用。
    (1) 时间状语从句连词:when, while, as, befre, after, until, as sn as 等。 e.g. My father tk the phts when we lived in Hng Kng. Yu’re nt ging ut until yu’ve finished this.
    until/till引导时间状语从句,意为“直到……” 。当主句的谓语动词是延续性动词,主句常用肯定形式;当主句的谓语动词是短暂性动词时,主句常用否定形式。nt…until…意为“直到……才……”。
    e.g. I’ll stay here until/till yu cme back.He didn’t g t bed until/till he finished his hmewrk.
    (2) 地点状语从句连词:where e.g. We must camp where we can get water.(3) 条件状语从句连词:if, unless, as lng as, nce e.g. If he leaves the vegetables with the gat, the gat will eat them. Nbdy will get anything unless they ask fr it.Yu may brrw this bk as lng as yu keep it clean.
    (4) 比较状语从句连词:than, as e.g. The cst f the repairs was a lt f cheaper than I thught.(5) 目的状语从句连词:s that, in rder that e.g. I’ve brught sme phts s that yu can see what Britain lks like.
    (6) 原因状语从句连词:because, since, as e.g. Mark culd nt cme because he had t wrk.As he was in a hurry, Jack left his bag hme.(7) 结果状语从句连词:s … that … e.g. He gt up s late that he missed the first train. (8) 让步状语从句连词:althugh, thugh, even if/thugh e.g. Althugh the car is ld, it still runs well.Even thugh yu like it, I wn't buy it fr yu.
    2. 条件状语从句中的时态在条件状语从句中,如果主句的时态是一般将来时,从句一般用一般现在时,即“主将从现”。e.g. If it rains tmrrw, we will play inside.
    有时候,时间状语从句中因为意思的需要,也会出现“主将从现” 的情况。e.g. When I grw up, I will be a nurse and lk after patients. I will tell him abut it when he cmes.

    动词不定式动词不定式是一种非限定动词,通常由“t+动词原形”构成。这里的t是不定式的符号,没有词义,有时还可以省略。动词不定式没有人称和数的变化,在句中不能单独用作谓语。动词不定式的肯定形式是t d,否定形式是nt t d。
    动词不定式的功能1. 作主语不定式作主语时,常用it作形式主语,而将作主语的不定式放在句子后面。e.g. It isn’t right t kill whales fr their meat. = T kill whales fr their meat isn’t right.
    2. 作宾语后接不定式作宾语的常见动词有: want, hpe, wish, like, begin, try, need, frget, decide, agree, refuse, affrd, manage, prmise等。 e.g. He refused t g there.She wants t be a dctr.
    We ften use “t-infinitives” after these verbs.

    动词不定式作宾语补足语
    e.g. My mum asks me t play the pian tw hurs every day.
    动词不定式可以用来说明宾语的情况,作宾语补足语。vt.+sb.+ (nt) t d sth.
    e.g. The teacher tld me t clean the blackbard.I want yu t give me sme help.
    常带不定式作宾补的动词:
    warn, tell, allw, ask, rder, get, invite, wish, want, encurage等
    + sb. t d sth.
    + sb. d sth.(不带t)
    动词help后面的动词不定式可带t,也可不带t。e.g. She ften helps me (t) d the husewrk. We helped him (t) fix his bike.
    不定式作目的状语时,可以放在句末和句首。
    e.g. I had t wrk hard t earn mney. T finish his hmewrk, he must stay at hme.
    t d sth. = in rder t d …后者可加强语气或使目的意义更加清楚。 e.g. She is running quickly in rder t catch the train.
    e.g. They started early in rder t get there in time. = In rder t get there in time, they started early.
    由in rder t引导的目的状语,既可以置于句尾,也可以置于句首。

    An invented language Since the twelfth century, peple have been inventing languages, in the hpe that a wrld language wuld ease human cmmunicatin. Only ne f these invented languages has enjyed any success, thugh.
    It is called Esperant. It was invented by a Plish man named Zamenhf. His language is based n Latin, German and Greek vcabulary. Each letter always makes the same sund, and the grammar rules are simple. Althugh Esperant is spken by abut tw millin peple and a thusand f them have learnt it as a first language, it is unlikely t becme a wrld language.
