    答案与解析:was。考查时态和主谓一致。 根据定语从句的谓语动词“wrte” 可知这里描述发生在过去的事情,用一般过去时;ne f + 形容词最高级 + 可数名词复数结构中,谓语动词用单数,所以填was。句意:我给写信的最大的公司之一是巴黎阿拉斯加航空公司。
    【考例5】(2021浙江1月卷)In cities, hwever, the gain (be) 1. 3 in wmen and 1. 6 in men.
    答案与解析:was。考查主谓一致和动词时态。分析句子结构可知,句子缺少谓语,主语(gain)是单数,时态是一般过去时,故填was。句意:然而,在城市中,女性增加了1.3,男性增加了1.6。
    【考例6】(2020·海南·高考真题)Because the number f pssible tpics (be)practically limitless, we fcus n a sample f the mst interesting and useful applicatins and tls and explain the basic principles f technlgy.
    答案与解析:is。考查主谓一致。句意:因为可能的主题的数量几乎是无限的,所以我们关注最有趣和最有用的应用程序和工具的一个示例,并解释技术的基本原理。the number f ……的数目,后接可数名词的复数形式,谓语动词用单数。根据文章中的时态可知,用一般现在时。故填is。
    【主谓一致概况】
    英语的一致关系中其中一条就是要求谓语动词与主语之间保持人称和数的一致,这就是主谓一致。问题的关键是要清楚到底谁是主语,谓语动词到底与哪一个词保持一致,确定主语的标准是什么,这些问题就是本节所要解决的问题。
    通常形式下主语是复数形式,谓语动词就用复数;主语是不可数名词或单数形式,谓语动词就用单数,如:
    (METXXXX) --- Have yu heard the news abut Tm?
    --- N, what ____?
    A. is it B. it is C. are they D. they are
    分析:根据上下文的意思可以看出是在问“什么消息”,所用的代词应该指代不可数名词the news,那么只可以用it代替,而it实际上是代词的单数形式,故选A。
    (METXXXX) A gd deal f mney ____ spent n bks.
    A. have B. has C. have been *D. has been
    分析:主语是不可数名词mney,而且谓语动词要用被动语态,故选D。
    但是在事实际运用当中情况要复杂得多,下面就具体情况分考点说明。
    【主谓一致考点解读】
    一、谓语动词用单数形式
    考点一、表示时间、距离、价格、重量、温度等数目的名词复数形式作为主语时,通常把其看作是一个整体,谓语动词用单数形式。如:
    1)Twenty five dllars was all he culd earned a week.
    他每周所能挣到的钱就二十五美元。
    2)Twenty years is nly a shrt time in human histry.
    在人类历史中,二十年事实短暂的时间。
    考点二、用不可数名词、非谓语动词中的动词ing形式、不定式或者是用主语从句作主语时,谓语动词用单数形式。如:
    1)(NMETXXXX) When and where t build the new factry _______ yet.
    A. is nt decided B. are nt decided
    *C. has nt been decided D. have nt been decided
    分析:主语是不定式形式,B、D是复数,再根据题中的完成时标志yet的提示可知C正确。
    2) When we will discuss this prblem hasn’t been decided yet.
    我们何时讨论这个问题还没有顶下来。
    【考例】It is imprtant t remember that success ________ a sum f small effrts made each day and ften ________ years f achieve. (XXXX·湖南卷27)
    A. is; takes B. are; takes C. are; take D. is; take
    【答案与解析】A。根据并列连词and看出前后两空共用主语success“成功”,此处是不可数名词,谓语用单数。
    考点三、以-s结尾书、报刊、地名、组织名称或是以-ics结尾的表示学科、疾病的名词作主语时,谓语动词用单数。如:
    1)(METXXXX) Mathematics _____ the language f science.
    *A. is B. are ging t C. are
    分析:mathematics表示“数学”学科,所以用单数,类似如:plitics(政治)/ physics/ ptics(光学)/
    2)(METXXXX) His “Selected Pems”______ first published in 1965.
    A. were *B. was C. has been
    分析:表示书名,是专有名词,所以用单数。
    再如:The United States is made up f 50 states. 美国由有50个州。
    考点四、由and并列的两个主语用来指同一个人、同一事物或同一概念时,或是在and并列的两个可数名词的单数形式前有every/ each/ n/ many a修饰,则谓语动词用单数。如:
    1) The prfessr and writer is ging t give us a lecture n hw t write.
    这位教授兼作家要就如何写作给我们作一个专题讲座。(第二个名词writer前没有冠词,指一个人的两种身份)
    试比较:The prfessr and the writer is ging t give us a lecture n hw t write.
    教授和作家要就如何写作给我们作一个专题讲座。(两个名词prfessr和writer前都有冠词,指两个人)
    2)All wrk and n play makes Jack dull by. 只工作不玩耍,聪明的孩子也变傻。
    常用的有:bread and butter(黄油面包) a knife and frk(一副刀叉) a cart and hrse(一辆马车) needle and thread(针线)
    3) Every by and every girl is t attend the meeting t be held this afternn.
    所有的同学都要参加今天下午举行的会议。
    考点五、不定代词smene/ anyne/ n ne/everyne; smebdy/ anybdy/ nbdy; smething/ anything/ nthing或是用each/ every/whle/ neither/ either/ many a/ mre than ne等跟单数名词连用时。如:
    1) Nthing is permitted; everything is allwed. 一切不准许,可一切又能容许。
    2) The whle natin was deep int srrw at the news f Deng Xiaping’s death.
    听到邓小平逝世的消息,全国人民陷入沉痛之中。
    3)(NMETXXXX) --- Each f the students, wrking hard at his r her lessns, _____ t g t university.
    --- S d I.
    A. hpe *B. hpes C. hping D. hped
    比较:Each f us has a new bicycle.(主语是each,谓语动词用单数)
    We each have a new bicycle.(主语是we,each是同位语,谓语动词用复数)
    注意:代词each和由every, sme, n, any等构成的复合代词作主语,或主语中含有each, every谓语需用单数;在代词nne, sme, any, mre, mst, all等的单复数由其指代的词的单复数决定;either和neither看作单数,nne单复数均可。如:
    Larry asks Bill and Peter t g n a picnic with him, but neither f them wants t, because they have wrk t d. (XXXX全国卷)
    My brther wuld like t buy a gd watch but nne was available frm that shp. (XXXX江西卷)
    【考例】All we needa small piece f land where we can plant varius kinds f fruit trees thrughut the grwing seasns f the year. (XXXX湖南卷)

    【答案与解析】C。根据后面can plant看出用一般现在时,再根据句意看出all代指a small piece f land,所以谓动用单数。
    考点六、man用单数形式且没有冠词表示“人类”;the wrld表示“世人”。如:
    What wnderful things Man has achieved.
    All the wrld knws that the earth ges arund the sun.
    二、谓语动词用复数形式
    考点一、主语是可数名词复数,与定冠词the连用的1)表示某姓氏的夫妇或一家人 2)形容词表示一类人。如:
    1) The Smiths ften play with their children in their spare time.
    在业余时间里史密斯夫妇常和孩子们一起玩。
    2)The disabled have been paid mre attentin t by ur gvernment in the past few years.
    在过去的几年里,我们的政府更加关注残疾人。(类似的形容词还有blind/ pr/ rich/ living/ yung/ ld/ dead/ wunded等)
    【考例】While there are amazing stries f instant transfrmatin, fr mst f us the __69__ (change) are gradual and require a lt f effrt and wrk, like cleaning up a plluted river. (XXXX全国卷I)
    【答案与解析】changes。 因为这里缺少的是句子的主语,根据谓语动词are可知主语是复数,故用changes。
    考点二、the与English/ Japanese/ Swiss/ French /peple/ plice/ cattle/ flk集体名词一起时。如:
    The Chinese were a highly civilized peple lng befre the Eurpeans were.
    中国人在欧洲人很久以前就是一个高度文明的民族了。
    2)Lk, the cattle are eating grass in the hill. There is n need fr yu t lk fr them at all.
    三、根据就近原则决定谓语动词的单复数形式
    考点一、并列连词either…r/ neither…nr/ nt nly…but als/ nt…but等连接两个名词或代词作主语时,谓语动词与相邻的主语保持一致。考例;
    1) (上海XXXX) Either yu r the headmaster ____ the prizes t these gifted students at the meeting.
    A. is handing ut B. are t hand ut
    C. are handing ut *D. is t hand ut
    分析:根据就近原则可以判定谓语动词的人称和数与the headmaster保持一致,所以用单数,排除A、B;根据句意可以看出奖品还没有颁发,所以指将来,而be t d sth结构可以表示按计划或要求将要做某事,故选D。
    2)Nt nly Tm but als his parents like playing ftball.
    不仅汤姆喜欢踢足球,他父母也喜欢踢足球。(含义是大家可能已经知道汤姆喜欢踢足球,本句主要是为了让大家知道汤姆的父母也喜欢踢足球,所以根据意思也可以判定用单数)
    试比较: Tm as well as his parents likes playing ftball.
    汤姆和他父母一样也父母也喜欢踢足球。(大家可能已经知道汤姆的父母喜欢踢足球,强调汤姆也喜欢,所以主语在前,是Tm,谓语动词用第三人称单数)
    【考例】The basketball cach, as well as his team, ______interviewed shrtly after the match fr their utstanding perfrmance. (XXXX陕西卷)
    A. were B. was C. is D. are
    【答案与解析】B。根据shrtly after the match确定是一般过去时,主语中心词是the basketball cach,谓动是单数。
    考点二、there be句型
    通常根据最靠近be动词的名词决定be动词或是可以用于there be句型的像exist/ stand/ live等词的形式。如:
    1) There is an range, tw apples and sme bananas n the plate.
    2) There stands a big tree and sme bamb.
    四、根据远邻原则决定谓语动词的单复数形式
    是指在主语后面如果跟有as well as (不但…而且)/ besides/ mre than/ rather than/ but/ alng with/ with/ beynd/ except/ in additin t/ including like/ 等词时,谓语动词的人称和数仍然与前面的名词保持一致,因为后面的名词或代词确切地说是介词宾语,与上述这些词一起构成了后置定语,用来补充说明,不应该看作是主语。考例:
    1)(上海春招XXXX)N ne in the department but Tm and I ____ that the directr is ging t resign.
    *A. knws B. knw C. have knwn D. am t knw
    分析:句子的主语实际上是N ne,Tm and I是介词but的宾语,故选A。
    2)(METXXXX)Nbdy but Jane ____ the secret.
    A. knw *B. knws C. have knwn D. is knwn
    3)(上海XXXX) E-mail, as well as telephnes, ______ an imprtant part in daily cmmunicatin.
    *A. is playing B. have played C. are playing D. play
    分析:as well as连接的两个名词或代词强调前者,与nt nly…but als不同,本题的主语是E-mail,所以谓语动词用单数,故选A。
    4)(XXXX北京)The teacher, with 6 girls and 8 bys f class, _____ visiting a museum when the earthquake struck.
    *A. was B. were C. had been D. wuld be
    分析:从句子的意思看是一共有七个人,但是主语是The teacher,所以谓语动词用单数,故选A。
    考点五、定语从句中的主谓一致情况
    定语从句的关系代词如果在从句中作主语,那么定语从句的谓语动词应该与先行词保持一致。这就要求要能够分清先行词。
    1) These bks are intended specially fr thse wh are beginners.
    这些书是专门为那些初学者出版的。(wh引导的定语从句并且在从句中作主语,谓语动词are与先行词thse保持一致,所以用复数。)
    2) (上海春招XXXX)He is the nly ne f the students wh ___ a winner f schlarship fr three years.
    *A. is B. are C. have been D. had been
    分析:通常ne f+名词复数跟定语从句,如果定语从句的关系代词在从句中作主语,那么从句的谓语动词跟作先行词的名词复数一致,用复数形式,但是当前面的ne被the nly/ the very修饰限制时,先行词就是ne了,所以此时定语从句的谓语动词就要用单数,故本题选A,要抓住题中起暗示作用的the nly。
    3) (上海XXXX) She is ne f the few girls wh _____ in the kindergarten.
    A. is well paid *B. are well paid
    C. is paying well D. are paying well
    考点六、根据具体情况谓语动词考虑单复数
    考点一、集体名词作主语
    像army/ class/ family/ team/party/ enemy/ grup/ gvernment/ cuple/ audience(观众)/ crew/ crwd/ cmpany/cmmittee(委员会)/class/ family/ band/ public等作主语时,如果指集体概念,谓语动词用复数形式;如果指具体成员,则谓语动词用单数形式。如:
    The yung cuple lives a happy life.这对夫妻过着幸福的生活。(强调一对)
    The yung are quarrelling with each ther abut mney.
    这对夫妻在为钱的问题吵架。(强调两个人)
    2)This class is made up f frty five students. 这个班有45位同学。
    This class are all girls. 这个班的学生全都是女生。
    Fur classes are lining in frnt f the teaching building.
    四个班级在教学楼前排队。
    【考例】If they win the final tnight, the team ______ (be)ging t tur arund the city t be cheered by their enthusiastic supprters. (改编自XXXX·浙江卷19)
    【答案与解析】are。根据前面主语they和后面的动词tur,看出team强调作为个体的队员们,用复数动词。
    考点二、分数/百分数/the rest/ mst/half/ all等+f+名词作主语
    该结构的谓语动词的单复数形式不是由分数、百分数或the rest/ mst f的本身所决定的,而是由介词f后面的名词决定的。如果名词是可数名词复数,则谓语动词用复数;如果f的名词是单数或不可数名词,则谓语动词用单数。类似还有the rest/ mst f/ half f等。考例:
    1)(上海春招XXXX) The manager entered the ffice and was happy t learn that fur-fifths f the tickets ______.
    A. was bked *B. had been bked C. were bked D. have been bked
    分析:fur-fifths f the tickets中的tickets是可数名词复数形式,所以谓语动词用复数,排除A;根据题干中的过去式排除D;从was happy可知bk动作已经发生在前,即过去的过去,用过去完成时,故选B。
    2) The beginning was bring, but the rest was interesting.
    开始部分十分枯燥,但是其余部分很有趣。
    3) Mst f them have been here; the rest are arriving later.
    大部分已经到了,其他人稍后就到。(f后的名词指人,代词 them是复数形式)
    当sme作“一些”解跟复数名词作主语时,谓语动词用复数;当作“某个”解时跟可数名词单数。如:
    Sme students like English; thers like Chinese r histry.
    一些学生喜欢英语,另一些学生喜欢汉语或历史。
    2) Sme student is waiting fr yu at the schl gate. Hurry up.
    快点,门口有一位同学在等你。(Sme跟可数名词单数形式意思是“某个”)
    考点三、what/ wh/ which在主系表结构中,谓语动词形式要考虑表语
    What she said is f great imprtance.
    她所说的话十分重要。(What所表示的是所说的话,是不可数,故用单数)
    What she left are nly several ld dictinaries.
    他所留下的就是一些旧词典。(What所表示的内容就是ld dictinaries,所以谓语动词用复数)
    考点七、主谓一致的个别情况
    考点一、the number f+复数名词与a number f+复数名词
    the number f结构中的number是中心词,意思是“……的数量”,所以作主语时,谓语动词用单数;a number f的意思是“许多的”,相当于形容词,只修饰可数名词复数,所以作主语时谓语动词用复数。考例:
    1) (NMETXXXX) The number f peple invited _______ fifty, but a number f them _____ absent fr different reasns.
    A. were; was B. was; was *C. was; were D. were; were
    2) (MET92) The number f students in this schl _______ by 5% very year.
    A. rise B. raise *C. rises D. raises
    考点二、large quantities f /a large quantity f+可数名词复数/不可数名词
    large amunts f/ a large amunt f+不可数名词
    谓语动词的单复数形式是由f前的名词本身所决定。a large quantity f+可数名词复数/不可数名词或a large munts f+不可数名词作主语,谓语动词用单数;large quantities f+可数名词复数/不可数名词或large amunts f+不可数名词作主语,谓语动词用复数。考例:
    (上海XXXX) As a result f destrying the frests, a large _____ f desert ____ cvered the land.
    A. number; has *B. quality; has C. number; have D. quality; have
    考点三、means表示“方法、手段”作主语
    不是根据means的形式,因为该词的单复数形式一样。主要看前面的修饰词,如果被these/ thse/ all/ bth等复数意义的词修饰,则谓语动词用复数;如果被each/ every/ n等单数意义的词所修饰,则谓语动词用单数。考例:
    (上海春招XXXX) Every pssible means _____ t prevent the air pllutin, but the sky is still nt clear.
    A. is used B. are used *C. has been used D. have been used
    分析:means被单数意义的every所修饰,所以谓语动词用单数形式,再根据后一分句可以知道到现在“天空还不清晰”,故选C,用现在完成时。
    考点四、ppulatin作主语
    通常情况下用单数,但是当被分数或百分数所修饰限制时,谓语动词多用复数,尤其是其用作主语,表语是复数形式时。如。
    The ppulatin f China is under cntrl. 中国的人口得到了控制。
    Eight percent f the ppulatin f China are farmers. 中国80%的人口是农民。
    考点五、倒装句的主谓一致
    关键是能分清倒装句,倒装句的主语整个在谓语动词之后(全部倒装),或是在一部分谓语动词之后(部分倒装)。如:
    1)(METXXXX) On the wall ______ tw large prtraits.
    A. hangs *B. hang C. hanged D. hanging
    分析:On the wall是状语,为了强调地点而用了全部倒装,句子的主语是tw large prtraits,所以谓语动词用复数,hanged意思是“吊死”,不合题意,故选B。
    2)Such is ur plan. 比较:Such are his wrds.
    分析:有的把本句的such看作是主语,然后说是such表示后面表语的具体内容,或是说代替后面的表语,这样会造成矛盾,导致先出现的代替后出现的的现象。不如就理解成是倒装句,句子的主语就是后面的名词,那么谓语动词与主语保持一致,可以理解为:Our plan is such.或是His wrds are such.
    考点七、表示成套的名词。如:trusers, shes, glasses, cmpasses等作主语
    谓语动词通常用复数形式,但是当前面有a pair f形式时,谓语动词用单数,当然如果用tw / three/ fur…pairs f。如:
    My blue trusers are t lng.
    Her glasses are made in Taiwan.
    A pair f glasses made in America csts quite a lt.
