When the rain ceased, I went t visit the histrical centre and the Renaissance buildings.

Health prfessinals analyze gait in different ways. Sme analyses are as simple as having a trained prfessinal watch yu stand up frm a seated psitin, walk a certain distance and return t yur seat. The prfessinal will measure the quality f yur mvement and the time it takes.
Mre recently, artificial intelligence is als tracking peple's gaits. One example is OneStep, a digital health platfrm that health care prfessinals can use with their patients.
The patients dwnlad the OneStep app t their phne, then put their phne in their pcket. The app cntinuusly tracks their mvement, which their health care prviders can easily review.
“We're lking at gait speed, cadence the number f steps per minute—variability in gait speed and cadence, step length, the time bth feet are spent n the grund and mre,” said Stephanie Wakeman. OneStep's directr f clinical peratins.
One patient had been faithfully using OneStep. plus ding sme exercises her physical therapist (治疗师) requested, when her therapist nticed her walking speed and exercise sessins suddenly declined, Wakeman said. The therapist reached ut t make sure she was all right and discvered she was depressed fllwing a clse friend's death.
“S the physical therapist gt her cnnected with smene t talk t abut her grief,” Wakeman said. “He gt her an interventin that she may nt have had therwise. That's just ne example f hw this can help.”
“Mbility is srt f the funtain f yuth,” Wakeman said. “If we want t maintain a healthy, gd quality f life, we have t be very cncerned with ur mbility.”

Lve and encuragement frm thers can make us feel ur best. But can they als help us perfrm ur best? By taking advantage f a unique situatin in the wrld f ftball, ecnmist Patrici Daltn and his team were able t demnstrate that mral supprt significantly affects perfrmance.
Althugh mral supprt is such an imprtant part f daily interactin, there's little scientific prf f the effect it has n behavir. Daltn addresses this gap in a new research paper, revealing that even in the ftball stadium—a cmpetitive labr envirnment where high perfrmance is rewarded with high pay—mral supprt matters.
Demnstrating a cause-and-effect relatinship between mral supprt and behavir is difficult, Daltn explains, because mral supprt isn't easily cntrlled in an experiment. “The majr challenge lies in the fact that mral supprt is essentially endgenus (内生的) . Peple chse whether t supply r demand mral supprt, the extent f it, t whm t supply it and frm whm t demand it. The paper addresses this challenge by taking advantage f an exgenus (外因的) negative shck n mral supprt caused by an unexpected change f law in the Argentinean ftball league.”
Fllwing an incident invlving a ftball supprter's death, Argentina placed a ban that prhibited visiting team supprters frm attending first divisin games. This prvided the perfect cnditins fr a natural experiment, allwing the researchers t examine the impact f mral supprt n behavir in a real-wrld setting.
Analyzing data frm 1, 320 games played bth befre and after the ban, the researchers fund that the prbability f a visiting team lsing a game increases by 20%, and the visiting team cnceding (让得分) mre gals than the hme team rises by 1. 3 times. The researchers establish that the bserved decline in perfrmance is due t the absence f mral supprt. What's als striking is that smaller teams are mst affected by the lack f mral supprt, while bigger teams experience decline in perfrmance nly when facing ppnents with equal strength. This suggests that mral supprt makes up fr the pwer imbalance between teams.
The study reveals a strng influence f mral supprt and its significance in unlcking human ptential. “If mral supprt can make such a big difference in the wrld f prfessinal ftball, what culd it d in regular wrkplaces?” Daltn says.
    32. What des “a unique situatin” underlined in paragraph 1 refer t?
    A. The death f a ftball supprter. B. The experiment n mral supprt.
    C. The perfrmances f visiting teams. D. The ban n visiting team supprters.
    33. Hw did the researchers examine the relatinship between mral supprt and behavir?
    A. In a natural way. B. In an unusual way.
    C. By supplying mral supprt. D. By interviewing ftball supprters.
    34. What des Daltn's research reveal abut mral supprt?
    A. It can make a difference in many areas f life.
    B. It keeps a balance between big ftball teams.
    C. The impact f lacking it varies frm team t team.
    D. The absence f it makes n difference t a hme team.
    35. Which f the fllwing best describes mral supprt?
    A. It makes ne feel gd. B. It's a perfrmance enhancer.
    C. It develps gd relatinships. D. It's a cure fr behavir prblems.

Bullying (欺凌) is a prblem in many schls and peple ften talk abut hw t deal with it. But I see bullying ccur in ways that thers ften fail t realize. One thing that I have happily discvered is that a bully (欺人者) fears nthing mre than when the victim respnds by being nice. A bully's existence is based n being cruel, and it is a shck t receive kindness as payback.
I nce experienced bullying during middle schl. I met my bully—let's call her Kristy my first day f art class. I lved art, but Kristy quickly made me sick f it.
When I entered the art rm that first time, I fund a scat at a table and sat next t Kristy. Befre I even had a chance t intrduce myself, she lked at her friend and said, “Let's mve.” I plitely said, “Hi, I'm Ann.”, but she replied, “Well, Ann, I'm Kristy, and my friend and I mved tables because we didn't want t be near yu.” That was my first snakebite.
Fr the next few days I tried t avid Kristy, but that nly wrked fr a while. She began t make fun f everything abut me: my hair, what I wre, the way I talked, and hw I created my art. Then I decided t attempt the impssible-I was ging t make Kristy my friend.
“Kind wrds are shrt and Easy t speak, but their eches are truly endless.” Mther Teresa nce said. I began t respnd plitely whenever Kristy threw a nasty (恶意的) cmment my way. One day, Kristy lked at the picture I was drawing and said:
“Ann, I have t tell yu, this is the ugliest picture I have ever seen. I mean, what is it?”
