We tk in ur surrundings by using all ur senses. As we passed thrugh a stand f trees, we tuched the trunks. We smelled the black walnuts, which give ff a lvely fragrance (香气). We gt a little shwer f ripe mulberries, t. “Clse yur eyes and just breathe.” Chukas-Bradley tld us. After I pened my eyes, the green lked a lt greener. And I began t see things I hadn’t nticed befre.
“A frest guide helps us be here, nt there,” says Ams Cliffrd, the funder f the Assciatin f Nature & Frest Therapy, the rganizatin that certifies the guides. They supprt what the frests culd ffer us, inviting us int practices that deepen physical presence, pleasure, and partnership with nature. When we cnnect with nature in this way, we are cnnecting with urselves.
Cliffrd’s gal is t encurage health care prviders t integrate frest therapy as d a stress-reductin strategy. In the United States, wrk-related stress accunts fr up t 0$190billin in health care csts each year. “It’s my hpe that the health care system will include frest therapy int the range f services,” Cliffrd says

Flating pieces f Arctic sea ice rlled int cmplicated patterns a as s cean currents carried them suth alng Greenland’s east cast in spring 2024. The MODIS (光谱仪) n NASA’s Terra satellite seized a mment f this dizzying jurney n June 4, 2024.
Much f the ice has likely flwed a great distance t get t this pint. The Fram Strait, cnnecting the Arctic Ocean with the Greenland Sea, serves as the primary rute fr sea ice ut f the Arctic.
Alng the way, it breaks int smaller pieces and starts t melt in warmer cean waters. “The smaller the flating ice, the mre ‘wispy’ the patterns,” said Walt Meier, a sea ice scientist. The small ice pieces may nly be meters acrss—t small t distinguish in MODIS imagery. Their gathering frms the smke-like cluds rising frm the water surface.
As the summer wears n, ice will cntinue t be carried ut f the Arctic. But in recent years, mre f the Arctic Ocean’s sea ice has becme t yung and thin t make the jurney suth, nted Angela Bliss, a sea ice scientist at NASA’s Gddard Space Flight Center. “Histrically, when mre f the Arctic sea ice wuld survive the summer melt seasn, grwing thicker and lder, a larger vlume f sea ice wuld be transprted thrugh the Fram Strait,” she said.
Sme climate scientists are watching this decreased flw clsely. The mvement f sea ice and freshwater ut f the Arctic is a cmpnent f cean circulatin(洋流)patterns that distribute heat arund the planet. The “glbal cean cnveyr belt” transprts cld water suth and warm water nrth, cntributing t climate cnditins wrldwide “Less ice and freshwater transprt have big impacts n cean prductivity, as well as warming upper cean temperatures, in the regin,” said Bliss.
A 2023 study lking at tw decades f related bservatins fund that the East Greenland Current is mving less sea ice thrugh the Fram Strait, primarily due t sea ice thinning. The researchers bserved that summertime surface water temperatures ff Greenland have risen, in part due t the increased presence f heat-absrbing pen water.

In a digital, glbal wrld where thinking critically and generating new ideas cunt, a cradle-t-career apprach t educating children must be mindful f hw children learn t learn, nt just what they learn. Hidden in these mments are strengthened curisity and innvatin. Hurried parents ften lack the ability t allw that time, fearing that their children might be late fr their next scheduled activity.
“It becmes clear that the educatinal system in U.S. des n nt cncern itself with children’s intellectual lives,” warns Engel in the bk. In ne lvely example, Engel describes a teacher wh challenged her students t cnstruct a recrd-breaking straw chain measuring 3. 8 miles. “Winning wuld be fun, but the cgnitive (认知的) benefits wuld be far-reaching,” explains the teacher, whse gal was t help the children better understand the depth f the Mariana Trench.
With scientific insight and vivid examples, Engel’s bk ffers tips fr hw t make the learning mre apparent. She encurages parents t see children as active thinkers and suggests that by asking pen-ended questins and letting them explre, children will be better prepared fr a cmplex and ever-changing wrld.
    32. Hw will children’s playful curisity becme real learning?
    A. By giving kids a time limit.B. By planning ut extra activities.
    C. By remembering casual facts.D. By allwing kids t fully explre.
    33. What’s Engel’s attitude tward American educatinal system?
    A. Critical.B. Unclear.C. Uncncerned.D. Tlerant.
    34. What is special abut Engel’s bk?
    A. It presents a cmplicated wrld.B. It prmtes scheduled activities.
    C. It cmbines science and practice.D. It features pen-ended questins.
    35. What is the best title fr the text?

    (Text 6)
M: Hell! Hw can I help yu?
W: Hi, I live right belw yu. I’ve been kncking fr a while. Were yu busy with smething?
M: [6] Srry abut that, I was in the kitchen and my kid was playing the pian, s I didn’t hear yu. And, what brings yu upstairs?
W: [7] It lks like there might be a leak n yur flr. Water is cming in nt the ceiling f my study and has even damaged sme f my paintings.
    M: Oh n, let’s g dwnstairs and take a lk tgether.
    (Text 7)
M: Have yu heard abut the new urban park prject dwntwn?
W: [8][9] Yes, I read that they’re planning t transfrm an ld railway line int a green space. [8]② It’s n the frnt page f Greenville Daily.
M: It culd prvide a great play area fr the city. But d yu think it’s wrth the high cst?
W: Hnestly, I think putting mney int green spaces is vital fr imprving city life. It’s gd fr the envirnment and the cmmunity.
M: I agree, but with ur city’s tight budget, might there be a better use fr the funds?
W: Pssibly, but I believe that the benefits f mre green spaces, like cleaner air and a happier cmmunity, utweigh the csts in the lng run.
M: [10] Gd pint. I’m lking t feature the prject in my next TV prgram.
W: [10] Great! Let me knw when it airs.
    (Text 8)
W: Hell. Hw may I help yu?
M: Hi, I left my shpping bag under the seat n the plane.
    W. Which flight was it?
    M: [11] MF302, a direct flight frm Iceland t Denmark at 9:30 a.m.
W: [12] Culd yu please prvide yur seat number?
M: [12]31D, it’s next t the walkway. Oh, wait, I actually placed the bag under the seat in frnt f me.
W: Alright, that wuld be seat 30D. Let me check, sir.
    M: Okay.
W: Yur shpping bag is still n the plane. The crew has put it aside fr yu. Hwever, the plane tk ff half an hur ag. [11] Since it’s a rund trip between Iceland and Denmark, it will arrive back at the Denmark airprt in six hurs. [13] Yu can cme back here t the service desk at 7 p.m. t pick it up.
M: [13] That wrks fr me. My flight t Nrway is at 8:40 p.m. tnight, will I make it?
W: It shuld be fine, sir.
    (Text 9)
W: Hi, Jnny. [14] There’s a party at Hummingbird this Saturday t celebrate Anny’s prmtin. Cme jin us?
M: Sure. She’s being shifted t the headquarters in Lndn, right?
W: Yes, she’s leaving in Octber, prbably a mnth after the prmtin annuncement ges fficial next Tuesday. Everyne shuld have received an email by then.
    M: That’s sn. I need t get her a gift
W: Me, t. D yu have any idea?
M: [16] I’m thinking f buying a Scttish music CD s she can remember us when she listens t music frm her hmetwn while relaxing.
W: Nice ne! I plan t give her a dinner set. I remembered she bught a bunch f spns last time she was in Wales fr training.
M: [14][17] Let’s head fr Buchanan Street the day after tmrrw t pick smething, then we can drive straight t Anny’s party afterward.
W: [17] That wrks. Buchanan Street is t far t walk.
M: Deal. I’ll pick yu up at Springburn Rad statin at 2 p.m.
    (Text 10)
W: Many f us dnate ld clthes t charity shps, but did yu knw that mst aren’t sld? Accrding t The Guardian, nly abut 20% are sld. The rest are packed and sent abrad, ften t places like Ghana, either fr resale r t be thrwn away.
[18] In Ghana’s capital, Accra, there is a huge secndhand clthing market called Kantamant. It’s ne f the biggest markets in the wrld. [19] Every week, this market receives arund 20 millin pieces f used clthing. Unfrtunately, abut 40% f these clthes end up as waste. Wrkers either burn this waste r bury it undergrund, but since Accra is clse t the sea and desn’t have enugh space fr landfills, a lt f waste ends up n the beaches and in the water
This is a big prblem fr the envirnment. Clthing waste harms sea life. Sea birds might mistake parts f ld clthes fr fd, and fish ften get caught in the ld clthes, preventing them frm grwing prperly. This als hurts the lcal ecnmy. [20] Fishermen find it harder t catch fish because their nets ften bring up clthes instead.
