As a jurnalist with a desk jb, I spend a lt f time n scial media. But mstly, I'm mindlessly scrlling past(滑过) things I dn't care abut, which defeats the reasn I signed up fr these scial accunts in the first place. I wanted t feel pwerful, but usually, I just end up feeling exhausted.

Then, I realized that unfriending smene desn't mean that there are hard feelings— it means that I wn't knw their Candy Crush scre r what their kid's sandcastle lks like.
T make the prcess easier, I came up with what I'd like t call“ the Cstc test”. Basically, it's just asking myself if I wuld say‘ hi’ t this persn if I ran int him/ her at Cstc. Fr me, this is a pretty high standard. The test frced me t draw the line between peple I was truly friends with at ne pint and the peple I've said tw wrds t in my whle life. Mst likely, the peple in the latter categry(范畴) dn't want t knw all that much abut me either. S I unfriended them.
I wasn't expecting t feel such a huge sense f relief at the end f this experiment. I trimmed(缩减) just under 100 Facebk friends. S when I lg in, I'm actually interested in what I see. Overall, I have a clearer head and I als save time thrughut the day, since I have fewer things t catch up n and lk at aimlessly.
