Kiska, the last captive (圈养的) killer whale in Canada --- als knwn as “the lneliest whale in the wrld” ----has died, accrding t lcal media.
The whale, believed t be 47 years ld, died n March 9, 2023. Ontari’s Slicitr General Ministry spkespersn Brent Rss cnfirmed t CBC. Kiska, wh spent ver fur decades in captivity, lived at Marineland, a z and amusement park in Niagara Falls, after being captured in Icelandic waters in 1979 alngside Keik, the star f the mvie Free Willy. Marineland said that Kiska’s health had declined in recent weeks.
The news cmes fur years after the cuntry fficially banned whales and dlphins frm being bred r held in captivity. Hwever, marine mammals like Kiska that were already held in captivity wuld remain s, accrding t the new law. Kiska’s death marks the end f captive whales in Canada.
