American scientists claim in a new study that humans need t create very Earth-like cnditins t survive fr lng perids in space.
The study centered n issues such as dealing with gravity (重力) and xygen in space, cllecting water, develping agriculture and remving waste in space.
Life in space wuld require a natural ecsystem t sustain humans and their necessary equipment. Withut these kinds f systems, the task will fail. One f the biggest prblems fr humans in space will be issues related t gravity. Humans experience lwer levels f gravity in space. A lack f gravity can change the fluid (液体) pressure in living things. This can lead t health prblems fr humans living in space.
There is just n ther place in space where there is 1G f gravity; that just desn’t exist anywhere else in ur slar system. That’s ne f the first prblems we must slve. IG is anther term fr what scientists call “nrmal gravity”, r the gravity that exists n the Earth’s surface. It can be measured as the rate f speed at which an bject travels when falling t the grund.
Oxygen is anther imprtant cnsideratin. The scientists say space agencies wuld need t build high-technlgy main and backup xygen systems t supprt lng-term human life in space. But what if they fail?
One suggestin frm the study is t arrange living things t prduce xygen. Think f the hundreds f thusands f species f plants that make xygen. That kind f system wuld be needed t supprt lng-term missins in space and n planets.
The ther main requirement wuld be a huge amunt f energy frm the sun, the study suggests. The scientists nted that as astrnauts travel farther frm the sun, they will be able t cllect less and less slar energy. But they d need a lt f energy. Otherwise, pwering the eclgical system will be like trying t run yur car n a cellphne battery.
24.What des the underlined wrd “sustain” prbably mean in paragraph 3?
A.Supprt.B.Change.C.Challenge.D.Cmbine.

26.What des the study suggest ding t get xygen in space?
A.Making it with slar energy.B.Creating new living things.
C.Prducing it with equipment.D.Depending n plants.
27.What will happen if astrnauts fail t get enugh energy frm the sun?
A.Their cellphne batteries will be used.
B.Their eclgical system will face great risk.
C.They’ll have t get energy frm ther stars.
D.They’ll prduce energy using xygen.

Unfrtunately, after we have settled dwn int ur new life, we can becme very tired and begin t miss ur hmeland and ur family, friends, pets. All the little prblems in life seem t be much bigger and mre disturbing when yu face them in a freign culture.

"Lng time n see.” is a very interesting sentence. When I first read this sentence frm an American friend’s e-mail, I laughed. I thught it was a perfect example f Chinglish.
Obviusly, it is a wrd-by-wrd literal translatin (直译) f the Chinese greeting with wrng English grammar! Later n, my friend tld me that it is a standard American greeting. I was t surprised t believe her. Her wrds were unbelievable at all. S I did research n Ggle.cm. T my surprise, there are ver 60 thusand web pages cntaining “Lng time n see.” Thugh it is srt f infrmal, it is part f the language that Americans use daily. Interestingly, if yu type this phrase in Micrsft Wrd, the sftware will tell yu that the grammar needs t be crrected.
Nbdy knws the rigin f this Chinglish sentence. Sme peple believe that it came frm Charlie Chan’s mvies. In the 1930s, Hllywd mviemakers successfully created a wrldwide famus Chinese detective (警探) named “Charlie Chan” n wide screens. Detective Chan liked t teach Americans sme Chinese wisdm by quting Cnfucius. “Lng time n see.” was his symbl. Sn after Charlie Chan, “Lng time n see.” became a ppular expressin in America thanks t the ppularity f these mvies.
Sme schlars cmpare America t a huge melting pt. All kinds f cultures are mixed in the pt tgether, and they change the clr and taste f each ther. Language is usually the first thing t be influenced in the mixed pt.
Yu can have sme examples frm ther cuntries, such as pizza frm Italian, sushi frm Japanese, and déjà vu frm French etc. There is a lng list! Since Americans admire Chinese culture mre and mre nwadays, I believe mre Chinese wrds will becme American English in the future. In this way, the American’s melting pt keeps adding richness.
32.What did the writer himself feel surprised at?
A.The Chinglish expressin “Lng time n see.”
B.S many literal translatins f the expressins used in America.
C.“Lng time n see.” is used as a standard American English greeting.
D.Finding ut Americans use the expressin every day.
33.What d the underlined wrds “melting pt” in Paragraph 4 prbably mean?
A.Cnfucius’s wrds.B.Culture mixture.
C.A kind f cked dish.D.American changing cultures.
34.What can be inferred frm the passage?
A.Detectives translated the phrase “Lng time n see.”
B.Cultures cannt be changed in the huge melting pt.
C.The huge melting pt greatly affects all kinds f languages.
D.Hllywd made “Lng time n see.” ppular.
35.What is the main idea f the passage?
