T address this issue, a team led by researchers at the University f Washingtn has created an app called Fever Phne, which changes smartphnes int thermmeters withut adding new hardware (硬件). Instead, it uses the phne’s tuchscreen and repurpses the existing battery temperature sensrs t gather data that a machine learning mdel uses t estimate (估计) peple’s cre bdy temperatures.
The team started by gathering data in a lab. T simulate (模拟) a warm frehead (前额), the researchers heated a plastic bag f water with a machine and pressed phne screens against the bag. They used the data frm different test cases t train a machine learning mdel that used the cmplex interactins t estimate bdy temperature. The CYGNSS satellite radar measures the cean surface’s rughness (粗糙), caused by wind-generated waves. In 2021 CYGNSS researchers nticed the radar picking up strange areas f smthness with fewer and smaller waves. They didn’t knw the mechanism behind the smthness r whether it might be linked t factrs aside frm micrplastics such as marine life (海洋生物) r chemical interactins.
T find ut the reasn, Pan and his CYGNSS clleagues did the fllwing study: they used a 750,000-galln indr wave tank t simulate real- wrld currents.
