Scientists are using new technlgy t help endangered animals by listening t their sunds. The research, cnducted by The University f Warwick and The University f New Suth Wales in Australia, studies animal sunds frm endangered species including that f elephants, whales and birds.
It uses a new methd adapted frm tech used t study brain waves in neurscience. Analysis f animal sunds can be used t estimate their ppulatin size, t check what animals live in a particular area, t understand their migratin patterns, and t understand any negative impacts they may experience due t the increasing levels f nise created by human activity that is ccurring in mst f their habitats. Such knwledge is necessary in develping envirnmental management and prtectin strategies.
The new methd was shwn t be mre precise than the traditinal nes. While testing this new methd, called the Superlet transfrm, the study als revealed sme previusly unreprted details in animal sunds.
