When I checked my patient a cuple f minutes after starting his chemtherapy, I asked him questins related t an anaphylactic reactin. I als nticed his face was getting a little red and he lked shrt f breath. He mentined having lwer back pain, s I immediately stpped the chemtherapy, started taking his bld pressure, and reprted it t Marie. His bld pressure was within his nrmal limits, s we gave him Benadryl via his IV. The Benadryl helped the patient, and we had the Benadryl running when we started his chemtherapy again, but at a slwer rate. Recently, three engineers at the University f Glasgw have designed and built an innvative AI-based drne(无人机) system that can assist in search effrts fr hikers lst in the wilderness. They have published a paper describing their effrts n the preprint server.
Hiking in the Scttish Highlands has becme a ppular activity ver the past several decades. The landscape ffers a wide variety f remte lcatins that allw hikers t get back t nature. But such hiking can be disastrus— hikers can get lst r injured. Many find themselves in need f assistance every year. Because f that, emergency teams use bth traditinal and mdern techniques t find thse wh are lst r have becme disabled fr sme reasns.
In recent years, searchers have begun t use drnes— their higher pint allws fr cvering mre land mre quickly than searching n ft. It helps spt and lcate things precisely that searchers aren’t able t see frm the grund. In this new effrt, the team wndered if adding AI t drne technlgy culd imprve the search fr lst hikers.
T find ut it, they created an AI mdel using data sets shwing the paths taken by peple wh were lst and then fund by search parties arund the wrld. They als added relevant data, such as participants’ age, their reasns fr hiking, and details abut whether they were walking alne, r using sme ther frm f transprtatin like hrseback riding. They nted gegraphical infrmatin regarding bth the path taken by thse wh were lst and where they were fund, such as rivers, streams, rads r pen grund. They then added data specific t Sctland’s gegraphy. They ran the mdel millins f times, each representing a simulated search, until it narrwed dwn the mst prbable paths a lst hiker wuld take. The drne wuld then be instructed t search thse paths first.
In testing their system against traditinal appraches-- such as“the lawn mwer” sweeping technique used t find actual hikers— the new apprach fund lst hikers mre ften. The researchers say they need mre data t make their system mre accurate and eventually result in a tl that culd be used t save lives.

9. What mainly makes AI drnes effective in finding lst hikers?
A. Precise image analysis.. B.Fast pht taking.
C. Quick landing ability. D. Accurate psitining
10. What des paragraph 4 mainly talk abut?
A. Hw the AI drnes were invented. B. Hw relevant data affected hikers’ paths.
C. Hw hikers gt gegraphical infrmatin. D. Hw the AI mdel imprved drne search strategies.
11. Hw d the researchers prpse t imprve the new searching apprach?
A. By equipping hikers with AI tls B. .By perfecting the related data.
C. By abandning the current system. D. By increasing search practice frequency.

A glbal study cmparing 2,062 birds finds that in highly variable envirnments birds tend t have either larger r smaller brains relative t their bdy size, but birds with smaller brains tend t use eclgical strategies that are nt available t big-brained nes. The fact is that there are a great many species that d quite well with small brains.
Previus studies had fund general trends tward larger relative brain sizes at higher latitudes (纬度) where cnditins are mre variable. This new study is different because it lks at the full distributin f brain sizes acrss envirnments, allwing the researchers t test whether different sizes are ver- r under-represented. They fund that at higher latitudes, sme bird brains are significantly mre likely t be relatively smaller cmpared t bdy size.
“In Alaska, the ptarmigan (雷鸟) might be a typical example f the small-brained species. Lvable thugh it is, it’s nt exactly knwn fr its smarts. The ptarmigan can, hwever, feed n branches and willw leaves.” said Trevr Friste, first authr f the study frm Washingtn University.
“We find that small-brained species in these envirnments emply strategies that are unachievable with a large brain. These species are able t live n readily available but difficult t digest resurces such as needles f cnifers(针叶树) r even branches. These fds can be fund even during extreme winter cnditins, but they are fibrus and require a large gut (肠道) t digest," Friste said. “Gut tissue, like brain tissue, is energetically demanding, and limited budgets mean that it is challenging t maintain a lt f bth.”
"Brains are nt evlving separately - they are part f a brader suite f adaptatins that help creatures succeed in their lives,” said Carls Bter, assistant prfessr f bilgy and c-authr f the study.“Bilgists, urselves included, have histrically believed that envirnmental variability drives the expansin f brain size. But when we take a brader view, we realize that ther strategies als wrk and remarkably, the alternative here invlves making a brain actually smaller!”
12.Hw des Friste's research differ frm previus studies?
A. It reveals birds’ evlving prcesses. B. It arrives at a cnflicting cnclusin.
C.It fcuses n birds with smaller brains. D.It cvers a wider range f brain sizes.
13. What d we knw abut the ptarmigan?
A. It has a changeable feeding habit. B. It is cnsidered fairly intelligent.
C.It has a extremely large bdy size. D. It has a pwerful digesting system.
14.What des Bter think f smaller brains?
A. They are a result f limited budgets. B. They are an effective survival strategy.
C. They are nt fr variable envirnments D. They are typical f independent evlutin.
15. What can be a suitable title fr the text?
A.Big Brains r Big Guts: Chse One B. Evlutin f Brain Size in Birds
C.Big Brains: Adapt t Higher Latitudes D. The Smaller the Brain, the Smarter the Bird

differ frm 是 different的同义替换;a wider range f 是the full distributin f 的同义替换。
an effective strategy 是 ther strategies wrk的同义替换。
15.A。主旨大意题。本文主要介绍了大脑大小与环境变化之间的关系。主要以小脑类的雷鸟为例,具体说明它们因生存需要选择发展消化系统而非大脑。因此,A项最适合作为文章的标题。
