The climate change in Califrnia has caused terrible damage t Califrnia’s marine ecsystems. Untld billins f sea stars, r starfish, frm at least 20 species disappeared frm the entire Pacific cast because f the marine heatwaves. In the absence f sunflwer sea stars, a majr predatr fr sea urchins (海胆), the urchin ppulatins explded. They laid waste t kelp frests (海草林) already weakened by high cean temperatures.
Hwever, Central Califrnia’s kelp ecsystems have dne smewhat better than thse in Nrthern Califrnia. A new study led by Jshua Smith, an eclgist at the University f Califrnia, examines the rle sea tter (海獭) ppulatins—a natural predatr fr urchins—play in preserving existing kelp frests in the Mnterey Bay.
The research prject spanned three years, during which intensive under-water surveys prduced sme very interesting data abut sea tter behavir. Sea tters have very high metablisms (新陈代谢) that keep them warm in icy waters and which als make them greedy cnsumers f shellfish, urchin, and fish—sea tters can eat 25 percent f their bdy weight in fd in a day. At the bserved sites, as the urchin ppulatin grew, the tter’s diet shifted t becme mre heavily dependent n urchins. In fact, the tters were eating three times as many urchins as they had been befre 2014. As a result, they prvided crucial prtectin frm urchins t the kelp frests.
The fact that tters were able t cntribute t the health f the surviving kelp frests by keeping urchin ppulatins in check prvides Smith with hpe fr the frests’ cntinued survival. “The imprtant thing is that the urchins are ultimately reduced,” he says. “The sea tters have maintained patches f kelp frest that can then help refill the barren areas t enhance the recvery f frests.”
24.What influence des climate change have n Califrnia’s marine ecsystems?
A.A greater diversity f marine species.B.The disappearance f urchins.
C.An explsive grwth f sea stars.D.The weakening f kelp frests.

B.The reprductin f marine animals.
C.Otters’ rle in prtecting kelp frests.
D.The current cnditin f marine ecsystems.
26.What is a direct result f the shift in tters’ diet?
A.The tters are mre likely t stay warm.
B.The shellfish ppulatins have explded.
C.Urchins’ threat t kelp frests is relieved.
D.The kelp frests have made a full recvery.
27.Which f the fllwing is a suitable title fr the text?
A.Sea Otters t the Rescue

In mvies and bks, peple ften describe a defining mment when they figure ut wh they are. Hwever, I never thught it actually happened in real life. I never expected t have a “mment” f my wn. When it arrived, mine was much mre pwerful than I culd have ever imagined.
During the spring f my junir year, my class watched a dcumentary called Invisible Children. It was abut three cllege students wh take a trip t Africa and dcument their experience. At first the film was slightly humrus. Hwever, nce the grup arrived in nrthern Uganda, the md changed. They learnt what the cnsequences f a 23-year war had been fr thusands f children. Sme had lst family and friends; thers were caught by the ppsing frce and became child sldiers.
Befre lng, I was sbbing. I culdn't believe these things were happening, yet at the same time I knew they were. I just hadn't been paying attentin. Fr the past 17 years, I was blissfully (极其幸福地) prtected. When the dcumentary ended, I culdn't get it ut f my head. Fr the next week, I was nt myself. Every bite f fd I tk I thught f Grace, the 15-year-ld wh had little t eat. When I went t bed, I pictured Sunday, the 14-year-ld by sleeping n a straw mat (稻草垫) n the grund in a camp. My whle perspective shifted.
Since that day, I haven't been able t picture my future in a way that desn't invlve ging t Africa and ding what I can t help. Ultimately, this is why I decided t majr in engineering. With an engineering degree, my ptential fr change will be limitless. I will build wells and schls, and design irrigatin (灌溉) systems. Engineering is tugh, but I knw—in what W.B. Bdy language is an essential part f cmmunicatin and can be just as imprtant as ur spken language. Bdy language can be bth cnscius and uncnscius actins, s it is imprtant t make sure yur bdy is sending the same messages as yur wrds t ensure gd cmmunicatin. It can be difficult t cmmunicate cnfidence in yur actins when yu may nt feel it internally. When yu display cnfident bdy language, such as gd psture r eye cntact, even if yu're making a cnscius effrt, studies have shwn that it can make yu feel mre cnfident. When speaking t thers, practice cntrlling the impulse(冲动) t fidget and planting yur feet cnfidently t increase self-esteem.
32.What will yur bdy language tell if it can't g with yur speech?
A. Prbable disbelief.B. A dull speech.
C. An unclear cnditin.D. True meaning behind wrds.
33.Why des the authr give sme examples in Paragraph 2?
A. T shw bdy language can help us all the time.
B. T tell bdy language can shw the true side f us.
C. T explain hw challenging it is t read bdy language.
D. T tell teachers hw t judge a student's understanding.
34.What can we knw frm the last tw paragraphs?
A. Hand signals are essential ways t make us understd.
B. Naturally ccurring frms f bdy language make us cnfident.
C. Prper bdy language can help us a lt in gaining cnfidence.
D. When speaking t thers, try yur best t hide yur bdy language.
35.What can be a suitable title fr the text?
A. Cmmunicating with Bdy Language
