D yu knw that the “Happy Birthday t Yu” sng is the first sng sung in uter space? Apll IX astrnauts sang it n March 8, 1969. It is ne f the mst ppular English sngs f all time. Here’s the stry behind it.
The sng was written by tw sisters frm Kentucky, Mildred and Patty Smith Hill. It was first published under the title f “Gd Mrning t All” in 1893. It was used as a classrm greeting. Teachers sang it each day t welcme their students t the classrm.
The cmpser, Mildred Hill, was a cncert pianist. Her sister Patty Smith Hill wrte the riginal lyrics (最初的歌词) fr the sng while she was a teacher in a kindergarten in Luisville, Kentucky, where Mildred als taught.
The Hill sisters ed (取得版权) their sng n Octber 16, 1893. Hwever, it appeared withut their agreement in Rbert H. Cleman’s sngbk n March 4, 1924. Cleman changed part f the lyrics t say, “Happy Birthday t Yu”, althugh the sng still had its riginal title. The sng was then published several times ver the next ten years, ften with small changes in the lyrics.
