    Step 1 Lead in
    The T can encurage Ss t talk abut their family rules using the target structure.The T can use these prmpts:
    What d yu think f these family rules? Agree r disagree? Necessary r unnecessary?
    Wh makes these rules fr yu? Yur father r yur mther?
    Why d yu think they made these rules?
    The T can play a vide abut the relatinship f mther and kid. After watching the vide, the Ss can exchange their feelings. The T can use the fllwing questins t elicit Ss’ respnse.
    Have yu ever had the same experiences as the girl in the vide?
    Have yu ever quarreled with yur mm? D yu think yu and yur mther understand each ther?
    Step 2 Presentatin & Reading
    Befre-reading
    The T can ask Ss t talk abut the title and the structure f 3a and have a discussin. The T can use these prmpts:
    What kind f text are we ging t read?
    What d yu think the pem is abut?
    D yu remember what yur mther d when yu cried as a baby?
    D yu listen t yur mther and behave well?
    D yu argue with yur mther r talk back t her?
    D yu regret anything yu have dne t yur parents?
    Then the T can intrduce sme features f the pem and teach Ss
    hw t appreciate a pem.
    3a While-reading
    The T make Ss read the passage quickly. Then think abut and answer the fllwing questins:
    Wh d yu think wrte the pem?
    Hw ld was the writer in the pem?
    What did he write abut?
    Why did he write the pem?
    Then ask Ss t finish the task in 3a in pairs and invite sme Ss t share their answers.
    Answers:
    The title means that a mther always knws what is best fr her child,
    even thugh the child may disagree with the mther.

    3b While-reading
    The activity is t encurage Ss t understand and respnd t the pem they have read. The T can ask Ss t read the questins first. Then Ss read the passage again carefully and finish the task in 3b. Then the T can invite sme Ss t share answers with the class.
    Answers:
    When the writer was a baby and a small child, the mm did these:
    sang t him and stayed by his side when he cried
    gave him fd and warm arms t sleep in when he was tired and hungry
    kept him safe when he was running thrugh the field
    hugged him and lifted him up when he fell
    He felt that he was grwing up and he did nt want t be treated
    like a small child anymre.
    He was upset because he felt that he was ld enugh t be
    independent and shuld nt be tld what t d.
    He lves his mm and is thankful fr what she has dne fr him.

    The T can make Ss read the pem again and perceive the rhythm. And cnslidate Ss’ understanding f the pem by prviding mre questins fr them.

    What might happen when a tw-year-ld child runs thrugh a field? Why did the mm give the child a hug when he fell?

    The T can pint ut t Ss that the aim f this activity is t give Ss practice in using the target language in everyday cnversatins. The T may cnduct the activity as a grup activity and have Ss share their stries in grups f fur r five. The T can use the fllwing prmpts t lead Ss.

    Step 3 Language pints learning
    field作名词,此处意为“田野;场地”,还可意为“领域”。常用短语:in the field f 在方面,在领域。
    make sure确保;核实
    hug作名词,give sb. a hug意为“给某人一个拥抱”。
    hug还可作动词,意为“拥抱;搂抱”。其过去式和过去分词都是hugged;现在分词为hugging。
    badly作副词,在此处意为“严重地”。
    badly还可意为“差”,反义词为well“好”。
    d badly in... 在方面做得差。
    regret作动词,意为“感到遗憾;懊悔”。其后通常接名词、代词、从句、动词-ing形式或动词不定式作宾语。 regret还可作名词,意为“懊悔;后悔”。
