    Step 1 Warming upguess
    其实P6和P8的两个问题选用相同的国家是最好的,但由于有些国家打招呼的方式有重复,类型不够丰富,故做了替换,但尽量保留课本中出现的国家。
    Let Ss t think and : what d peple say in different cuntries fr the first time? ( i.e. the US, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan)
    Or T can ask Ss: In China when we meet smene we will say “ni ha”. Hw d peple say “ni ha” in different cuntries?
    (Britain: Hell, France: Bnjur, Germany: Guten Tag, Spain: Hla, Italy: Cia, Japan: kn ni chi wa)
    Ask Ss t think abut: What d peple d when they meet fr the first time in the US / France / Japan / Saudi Arabia / Thailand.
    (Tip: The purpse f this questin is t mtivate Ss find ut the culture differences between different cuntries. Ss dn’t have t answer all the questins crrectly.)
    (the US: shake hands, France: kiss, Japan: bw, Saudi Arabia: tuch nses (between men), Thailand: bwing slightly and pressing palms tgether in a prayer-like manner while saying Sawasdee)
    Step 2 Presentatin & Practice
    Pre-listening
    Ask Ss t lk at the chart in 1a and make predictins abut what peple d when they meet fr the first time in different cuntries.

    Befre playing the recrding, T can ask Ss t write next t each thught bubble which cuntry’s greeting each thught is depicting. Next, tell Ss that as they are listening t the recrding, they can try t identify each persn in the picture by writing dwn the names f the peple that they hear mentined.
    While-listening

    Play the recrding, ask Ss t listen and take ntes f what peple d when they meet fr the first time. In pairs, get Ss t check their answers.

    Ask Ss t find a partner and make tw cnversatins using the infrmatin they have learned s far abut greetings. Fr the first cnversatins, each pair shuld ask each ther abut the greetings, fllwing the frmat set ut in the example. Fr their secnd cnversatin, ask Ss t incrprate the names f the peple in the picture.
    Optinal Chice:
    T can intrduce mre custms abut greetings in different natins, such as the Mari in New Zealand, the Inuit Eskims and peple in Philippines.
    Step 3 Language pints learning
    be suppsed t后接动词原形,相当于shuld或ught t,用来表示劝告、建议、义务、责任等。其否定形式为be nt suppsed t,意为“不应该”。
    suppse表示“认为, 推断”时, 其后常接宾语从句, 它的近义
    为think, regard, cnsider。在宾语从句中其否定要前移(主句
    语多为第一人称) 。当主语是“物”时, be suppsed t意为“本应
    该”,用来表示“某事本应该发生而没有发生”。
    expect的意思是“预料; 期待”,作及物动词, 后接名词、动词不定式或that从句。其常见搭配有:
    expect sb. / sth. 等待(期待)某人 / 某物
    expect (sb.) t d sth. 期望(某人)做某事
    expect + that从句 预料
    be expected t d sth. 被期待做某事, 被期望做某事
