    本节课设计了三个活动:第一个活动为发现问题,找到定语从句中的关系代词和关系副词,说出其功能并制作总结表格或思维导图;第二个活动为使用定语从句合并两个句子,分析关系代词的省略情况;第三个活动为用定语从句回答问题,定义事物。
    课时目标
    1.在阿斯旺大坝课文的语境中学习定语从句的用法。
    2.提高语法的实践运用能力。

    对定语从句的关系代词和关系副词的理解。

    使用定语从句改写简单句、定义事物。

    Step I 学习理解
    活动一:识别定语从句(SB,P6,Part 1)
    1. Lk at the sentences belw and underline the relative prnuns and adverbs.
    After listening t the scientists wh had studied the prblem,and citizens wh lived near the dam,the gvernment turned t the United Natins fr help.
    Temples and ther cultural sites were taken dwn piece by piece, and then mved and put back tgether again in a place where they were safe frm the water.
    2.Find mre sentences cntaining relative clauses frm the text n page 4,and discuss briefly with a partner the majr functins f them. Then make a shrt summary in a table r mind map.
    E.g.:
    There cmes a time when...(Line 2)
    cultural relics that were an imprtant part... (Line 9)
    scientists wh...(Line 9)
    【设计意图】通过寻找定语从句的活动,先让学生找出先行词、关系代词和关系副词。然后进行讨论,在语境中总结出定语从句的用法。
    活动二:使用定语从句改写句子(SB,P6,Part 2)
    1.Rewrite the sentences using relative clauses.
    EXAMPLE:
    I have dwnladed that free app,but it desn’t wrk well. →The free app ( which/that) have dwnladed desn’t wrk well.
    (1)He shwed me a pht in his rm. It was a pht f a famus cultural relic in Egypt. →The pht which he shwed me in his rm was a pht f a famus cultural relic in Egypt.
    (2)The prject team helped prtect the natinal parks in the United Republic f Tanzania. It was frmed by members frm fifteen cuntries.→The prject team which was frmed by members frm fifteen cuntries helped prtect the natinal parks in the United Republic f Tanzania.
    (3 ) This temple was first built during the Qin Dynasty.→The time when this temple was first built was during the Qin Dynasty.
    (4) We met a prfessinal archaelgist at the entrance t the Great Pyramid. He explained t us the prcess f building such a difficult structure. →The prfessinal archaelgist whm we met at the entrance explained t us the prcess f building such a difficult structure.
    (5)The dcuments abut the cultural relics frm verseas are under the desk. I fund them yesterday. →The place where I fund the dcuments abut the cultural relics frm verseas are under the desk.
    (6)Scientistswrked tgether day and night t rescue the temple because they wanted t preserve it fr the next generatin. →The reasn why scientists wrked tgether day and night t rescue the temple was that they wanted t preserve it fr the next generatin.
    2.Discuss with a partner.
    (1)Which relative prnuns can be deleted in yur sentences?
    (2)When can yu g withut the relative prnuns like this?
    句(1)、句(4)可以省略,即关系代词在定语从句中充当宾语的时候可以省略。
    【设计意图】通过用定语从句改写句子,让学生在练习中感受并总结出定语从句的用法:如何选取关系代词、关系副词将主从句连接起来,以及什么时候可以省略关系代词。

    活动三:用定语从句下定义(SB,P6,Part 3)
    Wrk in pairs and play a game f definitins. One asks the questins belw and the ther answers them with relative clauses. Wrk ut tw mre questins f yur wn.
    EXAMPLE:
    A:What is an exit?
    B: An exit is the dr where/ thrugh which yu can leave a building.
    (1)What’sa library? (frm/in which;where)
    A library is a place where/ frm which yu can brrw bks.
    (2)What’sa gd friend? (t whm;wh)
    A gd friend is the persn wh will stand by yu when yu are in truble.
    (3)What’sa vacatin? (during which;when)
    A vacatin is a time when/during which yu can relax yurself.
    (4)What’sa ftball cach? (frm whm;wh)
    A ftball cach is smene wh trains ftball players.
    【设计意图】在对定语从句有了初步了解和认识之后,设计了用定语从句给名词下定义的活动,有助于学生加深理解定语从句,丰富句子使其表达更具体、生动,并提高学生在语境中使用语言的能力。
    Step III 迁移创新
    活动四:我说你猜
    1.Ask students t describe a persn using attributive clause.
    2.Ask students t speak ut their sentences and ask thers t guess wh they’re describing.
    E.g.:
    (1)He is a man wh first wn the Nbel Prize as a Chinese.
    (2)She is a wman wh stayed in the habitats f chimps t study their behaviurs.
    【设计意图】在学习和练习了定语从句的用法之后,让学生置入真实的情境中。通过学生用定语从句描述不同 的人物——可以是课本中学过的,可以是名人,也可以是自己身边熟悉的人,让其他同学猜这些人物,既和之前课时所学紧密联系,又在写与说的过程中加深了学生对定语从句的理解,提高了学习语法的兴趣。
