本课为英语新教材必修三第二单元Reading and Thinking。
教学目标：
阅读林巧稚小传，了解其生平事迹，分析人物性格与品质，理解人生道路上的“道德困境”；
通过阅读提取细节，基于已知信息推导结论。
客观分析和推理身处困境的人的不同选择可能产生的结果和影响，学会全面、客观、理性地看待问题，进而对道德和人性有更加深入的思考和理解。
教学重难点：
学生能通过阅读细节，推导结论；
学生能理解人物，分析人物性格与品质，并得到人生启迪。
教学过程：
导入：

【设计意图】通过激活学生经历的人生选择，或思考未来可能遇到的人生选择，将学生引入话题，引起思考：该如何做出更好的人生选择？从而引入本堂课的话题。

Activity 1 Lk and Predict
Lk at the pictures and the title here: “Mther f ten thusand babies.”

【设计意图】通过预测，激起学生兴趣。最后的问题，由学生自由猜测，设置悬念，待到阅读完后再来回答，既设置了悬念，又使得课堂设计前后呼应。

Activity 2 Read and Find ut
读出文本大意：The text, written in rder f time, is mainly abut Lin Qiazhi’s life experiences.
读出文章类型：It is a brief bigraphy f Lin Qiazhi.
读出细节信息：1). Read the text and underline the main events abut Lin Qiazhi.
2). Read para.2-5 and find ut the dilemmas and chices f Lin Qiazhi.
【设计意图】通过粗读，学生对文章整体结构有一定的把握，掌握了大致信息，为进一步阅读做铺垫；通过细读查找信息，归纳信息，学生对林巧稚的经历有了更深的体会，为下文进一步挖掘人物个性与个人品质奠定基础。
Activity 3 Read and Cnclude

2). 重新回归文章标题，根据总结的品质，重新理解标题的意义。
【设计意图】锻炼学生的学习能力，学会从已知信息分析总结，深度理解文本；呼应开头，使整堂课设计更完整、更具逻辑性。
