[河北武邑中学2020高一月考]WHAT are scientists?They are ften described as grey-haired white-cated dull schlars.
But the wrld has changed. Yung scientists are making their vices heard and releasing their pwers n the wrld stage.
This is als true in China. Rising stars include new materials expert Gng Yngji, university prfessr Liu Mingzhen,and bilgist Wan Ruixue.
At the age f 28 in 2018.Wan Ruixue received the 2018 Science&SciLifelLab Prize fr Yung Scientists. This is a glbal prize t reward utstanding scientists at the early stages f their careers.
She fcuses mainly n Bimedicine(生物医学)and Mlecular Bilgy(分子生物学). “Bth are cutting-edge(尖端的)technlgies at an early stage f develpment,” she said.
S, I think they have great ptential fr being develped. I think in the study f cutting-edge technlgies. China and ther leading cuntries in the wrld are standing at the same starting line. And in the study f Structural Bilgy, China is likely t becme the leader.”
She felt it was her fate t becme a bilgist. “I grew interested in the natural wrld when I was yung,” she said. In 2009, she entered Sun Yat-sen University.
In her third year at university, she realised that she wanted t d smething related t bimedicine. S she e-mailed Chinas tp bilgist Shi Yigng, hping t jin his lab at Tsinghua University.
Shi recgnised her talent and welcmed her. Years f effrts at the lab have paid ff. Her research n the high-definitin 3D structure f splicesme led t a scientific breakthrugh.
Unlike many f ther yung scientists wh chse t pursue further study abrad, Wan currently has n plan t g verseas.
“The whle ecsystem fr scientific research is cntinually imprving in China,” she said, adding that the cuntry has great science facilities.
