    In this sectin, fur different texts representing schl life in the UK are given. Each text gives a brief descriptin f the subject and uses a vivid picture. Students are t fully participate in the discussin and brainstrm by cmbining what they knw already abut the high schls in the UK with the infrmatin in the text. The related tpics and activities are designed t grab and attract students’ attentin by invlving their full participatin.
    Step 1 Brainstrming
    What may first appear in yur mind as sn as peple mentin “schl life”?

    Nw I’d like t ask yu which parts f this schl attract yu t cme here fr yur studies.
    I’m sure yu can get a lt when yu experience yur schl life. What are they?

    Step 2 Discussing and practicing
    What abut schls in ther cuntries?
    Lk at the fur pictures that shw sme aspects f schl life in the UK. Please lk at the pictures, read the instructins and try t determine the differences between schls in China and the UK.
    Have a discussin fr several minutes.
    The teacher can use the fllwing cntents t help students.
    Huge campus and lw-rise buildings: In the United Kingdm, we can see huge campus and lw-rise buildings in this picture. It is the biggest difference frm schls in China. Schls in China usually have a large enugh campus t make sure students have enugh space t study and play in. But mst schl buildings are taller, at least three streys.
    Lckers fr every student: In the United Kingdm, there are rws f lckers by the classrms fr students t put their statinery, bks, exercise-bks and ther belngings. In China students bring what they need fr lessns t schl and then take it all back hme after schl. Mst schls in China d nt have the equipment in the classrm.
    Fewer students in each class: In the United Kingdm, there are fewer students in a class, n mre than 30 per class. In China, There are usually mre students in high schl, perhaps 50 t 60 per class. Recently sme schls are beginning t limit the number f students in each class.
    At ease with ur teacher: In the United Kingdm, students have a clse relatinship with their teachers. They feel at ease and cmfrtable with them. It is similar in China. Nwadays, lts f teachers and students have established a gd relatinship with each ther. They respect each ther and wrk t gain a better understanding f each ther.
    (The teacher can encurage the students t cmbine their wn schl experiences with knwledge gained frm this text and ther surces, s that students can participate fully in the discussin.)
