    D fish have a hme?
Eurpean bass, an imprtant fish in the Nrtheast Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean, spend a lt f time in castal areas like estuaries(港湾)and sheltered bays. Hwever, these castal areas are at high risk frm human activities. It takes baby Eurpean bass a lng time t grw int adults and they tend t stay in the estuary they live in until they are fully grwn. S if their habitat gets damaged, they dn’t just mve t anther estuary.
Hw and when baby Eurpean bass use different castal areas? We hpe ur results can help dentify areas that will prtect these fish, which cntribute t the whle ppulatin increase.
We caught 146 Eurpean bass in three prtected nursery sites in the Suthwest UK. We placed an acustic(听觉的)tag inside each fish and then released it. We placed 78 receiver instruments thrughut the nursery sites. Whenever a fish gt clse t a receiver, it recrded the time, date, and fish ID. We tracked fish mvement like this fr a year.
We used ur data t determine hw much time fish spent at the prtected nursery site they were riginally caught in, r when they mved int ther unprtected castal areas. We als calculated if these mvements were related t fish size.
Seasnal differences between the varius nursery sites were clear. We fund all fish had wider mvements at sme pint. Sme visited neighbring estuaries. The mst adventurus individuals traveled t Wales, ver 300 km (200 mi)away.45% f wider mvements were in the winter. Many f these fish were frm the Dart Estuary. Mst f them returned t their riginal nursery by the end f ur study. 55% f fish stayed in their riginal nursery during the winter. We als fund that residence time varied between nursery sites, but it was nt related t fish size.
Our study shwed that Eurpean bass generally like t stay clse t castal nursery sites. Even mst fish that had lng castal mvements tended t return t their riginal nursery. These patterns were nt related t fish size. This means castal nursery habitats are imprtant fr them at lts f different ages. It als means they are imprtant year-rund. If we want t help fish ppulatins, we need t prtect these nursery habitats.

    A. Prtecting the fish. B. Tracking the presence f the fish.
    C. Shwing the mving track f the fish. D. Measuring the prtected nursery area.
    30. What can we cnclude frm the result?
    A. The bigger the fish is, the lnger the residence time.
    B. The residence time has n difference in different nursery sites.
    C. Castal nursery habitats are nly imprtant fr the fish at a yung age.
    D. Even mst fish having vyages farther tended t return t their riginal nursery.
    31. What will be talked abut after the last paragraph?
