    Step 1. leading in
    Ask a student t intrduce himself/herself abut his/her appearances and persnalities.
    Step 2. Presentatin
    Shw sme pictures f the persns they knw.
    Say: They are yur classmates. Please describe what they lk like with the wrds such as tall, shrt, heavy, thin, quiet, ludly, lng/shrt hair and s n.
    Liu Yiheng is than Wang Jincheng. (tall/shrt)
    Wang Jincheng is than Liu Yiheng.
    Liu Xia is than Li Yukang. (heavy/thin)
    Li Yukang is than Liu Xia.
    Wang Lingfeng is than Tian Yuan. (quiet/utging)
    Tian Yuan is than Wang Lingfeng.
    Su Ruixi has hair than Yin Jing. (lng/shrt hair)
    Yin Jing has hair than Su Ruixi.
    Read the sentences alud.
    Ask a student t summarize the rules f cmparative frms f adjectives and adverbs.
    一般在词尾加-er, 如:tall-taller shrt-shrter
    以字母e结尾的加-r,如:fine-finer nice-nicer
    以重读闭音节词(辅元辅),双写该辅音字母再加-er,如:big-bigger thin-thinner
    以辅音字母加-y结尾的双音节词,变y为i加-er,如:easy-easier heavy-heavier
    多音节和部分双音节词前加mre,如:beautiful-mre beautiful

    (2) A+v.+adv.(比较级)+than+B.
    Step 3. Match each wrd with its ppsite. (1a)
    Tell students hw t use the wrds: gd/well-better lud-ludly quiet-quietly
    Sam plays the drums better than Tm.
    Tina sings mre ludly than Tara.
    Mary walks mre quietly than Gina.
    Step 4. Listening Practice. (1b)
    Listen and number the pairs f the twins in the picture [1-3].
    Talk abut the differences f the twins.
    Ask the students t practice the cnversatin in the picture in the abve. Then make
    cnversatins abut the ther twins.
    Have several pairs f students act ut their cnversatins.
    Step 5. Listening Practice. (2a-2c)
    Ask the students t lk at the frm in 2a and understand it: Are the wrds in the bx used with –(i)er r mre? Cmplete the chart.
    Lk at 2b and explain “as…as”.
    Eg. Tm is as smart as Tim.
    Tara wrks as hard as Tina.
    Listen again. Hw are Tina and Tara different? Fill in the bxes.
    Listen again and check the answers.
    Lk at 2c and give students a few minutes t wrk in pairs t finish it. Then ask sme pairs t
    present their cnversatins.
    Step 6. Exercises.
    1. Kate is (tall) and (utging) than Linda.
    2. His apples are (big) than hers.
    3. Linda speaks Chinese (clearly) than Cindy.
    4. My father is (busy) than my mther.
    5. Tina gets up (late) than Tara.
    6. The Baihu Park is (beautiful) than the Zhngshan Park.
    7. The weather in Guangzhu is (ht) than that in Kunming.
    8. Sam has (lng) hair than Tm.
    Step 7. Summary
    Ask students t summarize the cmparative frms f adjectives and adverbs.
    Summarize the structure f the cmparisn.
    (Or: The teacher will summarize fr the students if the time is limited.)
    Step 8. Hmewrk
    Review the wrds, phrases and sentences f Sectin A (1a-2c).
    Write at least 5 sentences abut the twins in 1a.
