(2021 •山东济南高三期末)My 11-year-ld daughter, Elizabeth, started t talk abut quitting swimming, which brke my heart because she lves swimming. S when the swim seasn began, I cut a deal with her.
根据本段第三句中的because she was able t pursue her fur-year degree clse t hme 以及第四句 “She culd drive t class and be hme in the evening t help with her kids.”
根据最后一段中的“Jennifer sacrificed t achieve her gal, giving up many nights with her kids and missing imprtant events t study.
由第一段第二句“Yet, I was determined t g ahead.” 此处 的关键信息determined与选项C中的made up his mind相吻合。
根据第二段最后两句“I didn’t d either well. He later infrmed me that I was ‘ nt athletic’.”
根据倒数第二段中的“I was ne f the final runners t finish. But I finished!” 这与选项A中的made it (做成)意思吻合。选项B说作者中途退出马拉松长跑,这与I finished不吻合;选项C说作者获 得一等奖,这与原文倒数第二段中的第一句“I was ne f the final runners t finish.”矛盾,故排除C项;而D项说作者步行走到终点,但根据原文倒数第五段最后一句“Despite the pain, I stayed the curse walking a bit and then running again.”
根据第一段中的 “ is speech day, and right nw it’s Chris Palaez’s turn.” 和 “ seems like the kind f kid wh wuld enjy public speaking.”
根据倒数第二段中的“Whaley says the prject is abut mre than just learning t read and speak in public. He wants these kids t learn t bast abut themselves.”
根据第二段中的“His teacher, Thmas Whaley, is next t him, whispering supprt.” 和 “ invites the rest f the class t praise him.”
根据下文 “Are yu hping that eventually yu will feel empwered because yur life is better than theirs? Knw that yur life is yur wn; yu are the nly yu in this wrld.”
