本课时的话题是龙脊梯田，包括 Starting ut和Understanding ideas两部分。Starting ut是热身部分，通过观看视频、图片，让学生初步了解不同气候带下人们的生活状况，领略大自然的瑰丽，并感受人们在不同生存条件下的生存智慧。Understanding ideas部分主要介绍了广西的龙脊梯田，既有大刀阔斧的砍削，又有丝丝入扣的精雕细琢；既显得气势磅礴，又含着清秀的艺术情调。由于山行各异，呈现两种互不雷同的诗域画境。龙脊梯田地处海拔1916米的崇山峻岭深处，堪称“世界梯田之冠”和“天下一绝”。景区山清水秀，春如层层银带，夏滚道道绿波，秋叠座座金塔，冬似群龙戏水，四季各有神韵。这里集中了侗、瑶、苗、壮等少数民族原汁原味的习俗民风，是摄影爱好者和热爱自然的朋友的旅游目的地。通过文章的阅读学习，让学生了解龙脊梯田修建的历史原因、丰富的文化内涵及其对当地农业、经济的影响，从而开阔视野，树立人与自然和谐共处的理念。同时，培养学生热爱自然、开拓进取的勇气和决心。
课时目标：
1.掌握、记忆并学会运用本课时的重点词汇 therefr, prevent, harmny, design, harm, generatin, attract, admire及短语prevent sb.（frm）ding sth.，in harmny with。
2.培养学生的阅读能力，训练学生的阅读速度。在阅读的同时，思考文章的写作目的，作者的观点、立场、态度以及内在的逻辑关系，而不是断章取义的一孔之见。因此，统览全篇和问题是很有必要的，这些问题会给你提供信息或暗示文章中的一些重要细节。在统览全篇的同时要注意抓住文章的中心大意，捕捉主题句，因为一些显性的答案可以从主题句中直接找到，而隐性的答案则是要通过对全篇的理解才能得出。
3.培养学生的文化意识和正确的价值取向：人与自然是和谐相处、和平共生的。
