本课时包括Starting ut和Understanding ideas两部分，话题是环境遭到破坏、野生动物濒危。Starting ut是导入部分，通过观看一则环保主题公益广告的视频及四幅环保主题的漫画——海水垃圾、砍伐树木、工厂废气排放、全球变暖，将学生导入“环境破坏和恶化”的话题，能快速、直观地唤起学生的环保意识，增强保护环境的决心。Understanding ideas部分以电影《大白鲨》导入主题，陈述人们对大白鲨的印象，从而引出鲨鱼的真实本性、对人类地杀伤力以及现在的处境，让人们理性分析、认识问题，摒弃片面的认识，更全面地了解鲨鱼地生存状况。
课时目标：
1.认知并灵活运用本课时的重点词汇scare, dive, target, frtunately, extinctin, attitude, in fear, due t, by mistake等。
2.通过速读、精读等方式，引导学生由浅入深，逐层推进，加深对文章的理解，并掌握不同的阅读技巧和方法。
3.通过阅读短文，了解外表凶猛、令人恐怖的鲨鱼的真是习性和处境，让学生全面地看待问题，从自我做起，保护野生动物，保护环境。
