    Fleming saw many sldiers die frm infectins (感染) in their wunds as he wrked in a hspital during Wrld War I. This made Fleming decide t find a way t help the bdy fight infectins.
    In September 1928, Fleming left sme glass dishes n a bench in his labratry fr tw weeks. When he came back, he nticed smething puzzling. Bacteria (细菌) were grwing n all the glass dishes except ne. On this dish muld (霉菌) had started t grw—the kind fund n ld bread. The muld seemed t be giving ff smething that stpped the bacteria frm grwing. Fleming called it “muld juice”. He tried it n ther bacteria, and it killed them, t. Fleming became wild with jy and named it penicillin.
    Unfrtunately, Fleming’s bss thught he was wasting his time and it was impssible t kill bacteria at that time. Fleming did a few mre experiments with penicillin, and he als wrte abut it s ther scientists culd learn abut it. Hwever, because n ne seemed interested in his discvery, he frgt abut penicillin and started t wrk n ther things.
    In 1939, Ernest Chain, a scientist, and his bss, Hward Flrey, were lking fr medicines that culd kill bacteria. They discvered Fleming’s ntes and decided t test penicillin. In 1940, they gave penicillin t sme sick mice, wh survived later. But thse wh didn’t get it died. Flrey declared: “It lks like a miracle!” By 1943, the final tests n humans were finished successfully and the wrld had its first antibitic (抗生素) medicine.
