Occupying an area f 5.8 acres (abut 23, 300square meters), the Lingering Garden is lcated utside Changmen Gate in Suzhu, Jiangsu Prvince. Originally a classical private garden, it is ne f the fur mst famus gardens in China. Pssessing typical Qing style, it is well-knwn fr the exquisite beauty f its magnificent halls, and the varius sizes, shapes, and clurs f the buildings. In 1997, it was recrded n the list f the wrld heritage by UNESCO.
Like ther classical gardens f Suzhu, the Lingering Garden seeks t create stunning natural landscapes within limited space. In it, dmiciles, ancestral temples and private gardens are included. Buildings, trees, and flwers blend harmniusly with their surrundings. The garden can generally be divided int fur parts: the central, eastern, western and nrthern parts accrding t the style f the buildings.

1. 苏州面积最大的古典园林——拙政园

耦园前身为“涉园”后易名“耦园”。耦园为一宅两园的布局,且“耦”通“偶”,寓有夫妇归田隐居之意。耦园占地约12亩,住宅居中,东西花园分列两边,北端背河而起一排楼房,借“走马楼”贯穿。耦园内最著名的景观称“黄石假山”,修筑于城曲草堂楼厅之前。耦园一宅两园的布局,在苏州众多古典园林中独具特色。
4. 全国唯一的贴水园建筑——退思园
退思园水面过半,各式建筑贴近水面,好像整个园子浮于水上。退思园一改以往园林的纵向结构,而变为横向建造。全园格局紧凑自然,结合植物点缀,呈现出四时景色,给人以清朗、幽静之感。退思园集清代园林建筑之长,园内的每一处建筑既可独自成景,又与另一景观相对应,具有步移景异之妙,堪称江南古典园林中的经典之作。
