Since each class was heated t 105°F, every time I stepped ft in the yga studi, I’d feel a surge(涌起) f negative thughts cme upn me like a big cean wave. Sme f these thughts were, in the beginning f my practice, s strng that I walked ut f the class several times. Hwever, as the mnths passed by, I nticed that when I didn’t get swayed away by my negative thughts, I culd stay in the ht rm fr lnger.
After 3 – 4 mnths f practicing ht yga, my arms and legs were beginning t get definitin. I als wke up with s much mre energy than I had befre starting my yga practice and I gradually started shedding the punds frm my bdy. Yga literally made me feel as if I’d taken a sht f energy drink and just gave me that burst that helped my knees heal and made my verall health better.
As I saw sme f my classmates d pses that lked appealing t me, I started t think maybe I culd d them t. Therefre, yga helped shw me that I have n real limitatins physically unless I set thse limitatins myself thrugh eating junk and thinking in negative limiting terms.
Als, practicing yga in frnt f a mirrr helped me cnnect with myself and practicing with a grup f peple really helped me t feel a greater sense f cnnectin with humanity whereas befre I didn’t. Overall, this yga practice has helped me t see I’m part f a bigger picture in life!

Scial media can negatively impact relatinships when yu start cmparing yurself t ther peple including yur friends, just based n their scial media, Mre says. Fr example, sme may fear their lives aren’t as gd as their friends’ and take friendships away because they feel they’re nt gd enugh. Prblems with self-esteem (自尊) can als appear when psting abut sme relatinships n scial media, but nt all f them. “Peple might feel left ut that they’re nt as imprtant if they’re nt being shared n scial media,” Mre says. Cyberbullying (网络霸凌) can als negatively impact relatinships, whether yu are receiving mean cmments r sending them t smene else.
In rder t grw a relatinship that started nline yu shuld shw the real yu. T deepen a relatinship that started n scial media, Mre suggests talking n the phne r meeting in persn. While the rest f us are sleeping, freshwater turtles (龟) frm Central America t Asia are getting ut f the water and basking (月光浴) at night. There have been reprts f this behavir befre, but nw a new study is the first t dcument the widespread ccurrence. The findings suggest this may be a cmmn and almst entirely verlked aspect f many species’ eclgy.
Dr. Dnald McKnight, ne f the researchers, said he and a clleague first bserved freshwater turtles night basking at the Rss River in Twnsville, Australia. “We think it’s related t temperature. The water is staying s warm at night that it’s actually warmer than the turtles like t be and they can cl dwn by cming ut f the water,” says McKnight.
Fr the study, researchers put cameras t watch the night activity f as many freshwater turtle species as pssible. The cameras were set up in 25 lcatins. They were prgrammed t take a pht every tw minutes. They cllected data n 29 species f freshwater turtles.
It wuld be lvely t think the turtles are just enjying sme leisure time when things are quiet. But the researchers nte that in mst cases, the turtles gt ut f water when the water was t warm and the air was cler. Given the warming planet, that’s admittedly a bit depressing. Hwever, nt all f the nighttime baskers were escaping t-warm water. Accrding t the study, turtles in India exhibited mre basking n cler nights, rather than warmer nights, and thse in Africa spent mre time basking at night in winter than in summer. The reasns fr these differences are unclear. It may be that at sme sites r seasns, turtles are escaping unfavurably warm water temperatures, while at thers, they are taking advantage f the warm air t increase their bdy temperature and escape unfavurably cld water.
Regardless f the “why” behind different species’ reasns fr midnight basking, it’s a fascinating lk at behavirs nt previusly dcumented by scientists. And it is at least encuraging t knw that turtles are figuring ut imprtant behavirs tied t climate change.
12. Why d the freshwater turtles frm Australia get ut f water at night?
A. T search fr extra fd.
B. T avid natural enemies.
C. T cl themselves dwn.
D. T enjy the quietness utside.
13. What is paragraph 3 mainly abut?
A. Hw the study was cnducted.
B. What the study brught abut.
C. Why the study was carried ut.
D. Where the study was made.
14. Which f the fllwing are the researchers certain abut?
A. Turtles in Africa flee water ften n summer nights.
B. The water is unfavrable fr turtles t survive in India
C. The reasns fr turtles’ different behavirs are bvius.
D. Night basking is caused by the change f water temperature.
15. Hw des the authr feel abut the finding?
A. Skeptical.B. Psitive.
C. Surprised.D. Desperate.
