•Ma Xu became a military dctr in 1947. She applied t becme a paratrper in 1961, but her first applicatin failed because there were n female paratrpers at that time. Ma was nly 1.53 metres tall and weighed just 37.5 kg. But she learnt t parachute by training hard in secret. After Ma prved that she culd jump as well as anyne else, her applicatin was successful.
