    Grammar: Predicative clauses
    Lk at the sentences frm the reading passage and answer the questins.

    The predicative in sentences (a) and (b) takes the frm f a clause.
    “What” is used in sentence (a) because it acts as the subject f “makes” in the predicative clause. “Where” is used in sentence (b) because it acts as the adverbial in the predicative clause.
    Other wrds are wh, when, hw, why, etc.
    Nw lk fr mre sentences with predicative clauses in the reading passage, and summarise their uses in yur wn wrds.

    表语从句是指一个句子作为表语,放在系动词之后,说明主语是什么或者怎么样。
    含有表语从句的一般结构为“主语+系动词+关联词+表语从句”。
    1. 可接表语从句的系动词有 be, lk, seem, sund, appear 等。
    例如:It seems as if it were spring already. 似乎春天已经来了。
    2. 引导表语从句的常见关联词有连接代词 wh, which, whatever 等,连接副词 hw, why, whenever 等,从属连词 as, that, whether 等。
    例如:①The prblem is wh we can get t replace her. 问题是我们找谁来代替她。
    例如:②The prblem is hw we can find him. 问题是我们如何找到他。③The fact is that we have n idea t slve this prblem. 事实是我们不知道怎么解决这个问题。④The questin is whether they will help us. 问题是他们会不会帮助我们。
    3. 其他词引导的表语从句
    seem 似乎 lk 看起来 taste 尝起来sund 听起来 feel 摸起来 appear 好像
    ① as if / as thugh 引导的表语从句。此类表语从句可用陈述语气,也可用虚拟语气,常与以下系动词连用:
