    Hell, everyne, and welcme t the White Huse! I’ll be yur guide tday. The building knwn as the White Huse is the hme f the president f the United States and his family. The president als has his ffice here. In 1790, America’s first president, Gerge Washingtn, wanted t build a new presidential hme. A cmpetitin was held t find a designer t build it. Architect James Hban wn the cntest. He planned a building f grayish-white sandstne. The clr gave the huse its name. Wrk started in 1792. But the huse was nt ready befre the end f President Washingtn’s term. America’s secnd president, Jhn Adams, and his wife mved int the huse n Nv 1, 1800. By then, the building had six cmpleted rms. Many f the rms were still empty when Jhn Adams left ffice a few mnths later. Other presidents tried t cmplete the White Huse. But the British burned it dwn during the War f 1812. The White Huse was rebuilt after that war. Since then, it has been enlarged, repaired and almst ttally rebuilt. Tday, the White Huse has 132 rms. Visitrs can walk thrugh sme f the public nes.
