Parenting Nrthern Bald Ibises is a hard jb. Fr the past six mnths, bilgists Barbara Steininger and Helena Wehner have spent every day hand-feeding and raising dzens f these endangered chicks. They culdn't pass their fstering(喂养的)duties ff n anyne else during that time—the immature birds needed t imprint n them and them alne.
Steininger and Wehner then tk t the skies t guide their yung charges n the birds' first migratin(迁徙)fr their inability t d that. In mid-August they climbed nbard a micrlight aircraft in Rsegg, Austria, t start their apprximately 2,800-kilmeter jurney, which ended n Octber 3 at a wintering site in Andalusia, Spain. There the tw fster parents said their final gdbye t the birds that they helped raise.
"At the end, yu have t release them in the wintering site and accept that they are nw independent and dn't need yu anymre," says Jhannes Fritz, wh leads the team reintrducing Nrthern Bald Ibises t the wild in Eurpe and has been aviating the micrlight aircraft n these guided migratins since 2004.
This methd, called human-led migratin, is bth resurce- and time-intensive, but fr the Bald Ibises, it appears t be wrking. The prcess starts in the spring with fster parents wh hand-feed chicks taken frm captive-bred ppulatins. Then, cme late summer, the cnservatin team sets ut n its rute.
As the aircraft takes ff, the fster parents call ut in German fr the birds t fllw, shuting "Kmm, kmm!" thrugh a ludspeaker. Once in the air, the birds will smetimes fly clse t the aircraft and greet the fster parents by mving their bill up and dwn and calling ut. After the fster parents greet them back, they take their psitin in the frmatin.
After fur r five hurs f flying, they land back n the grund. At least a dzen ther crew members will have driven ahead t set up camp: a temprary cage fr the birds and tents fr the team members. The next day, they d it all ver again.
8.Why did Steininger and Wehner d the fstering jb themselves?

As scial creatures, humans can predict ne anther's emtins and mental states frm a range f surces: watching their actins, listening t their cnversatins, learning frm their past behavirs, and s n. Cgnitive(认知的)researchers call this the "Thery f Mind," r TM.
Althugh it excels in many areas, artificial intelligence desn't match humans in this regard—at least nt yet, accrding t a research team including Tianmin Shu, an assistant prfessr f cmputer science at the Jhns Hpkins Whiting Schl f Engineering.
T explre whether AI mdels can understand humans by using infrmatin frm multiple surces, Shu and his team created the first standardized dataset that reflects the true cmplexities f the reasning tasks encuntered by real-wrld AI systems. The team's test set includes 134 vides and text descriptins f peple lking fr cmmn bjects in a husehld envirnment.
The researchers tested bth humans and state-f-the-art large language and multimdal mdels n their ability t predict which bjects the peple in the vides wanted t find and where they believed they'd find them.
The team fund that humans became better at understanding thers' intentins when they tapped int varied surces f infrmatin. In cntrast, even the mst advanced AI mdels—such as OpenAI's GPT-4V—struggled with such tasks, ften cnfusing what was actually happening with what a persn believed was happening and having difficulty tracking changes in peple's thughts ver time.
Based n these findings, Shu's team created their wn mdel. Their apprach first translates the vide and text inputs int a type f signal it can understand, capturing the physical scene and the actins f the persn within it. Then, instead f directly mapping these t the persn's beliefs and gals, the mdel uses a cmbinatin f Bayesian inverse planning—a cgnitive methd riginally designed fr visual data—and smaller language mdels fine-tuned n human activity data t predict the mst likely pssible actins.
12.What is TM described in the passage?
A.Methds fr AI t predict human actins.
B.A standardized dataset used t test AI mdels.
C.A cgnitive apprach t understanding visual data.
D.Humans' ability t infer mds and psychlgical cnditins.
13.Which can replace the underlined part in paragraph 5?
    A.Lked fr.B.Drew upn.C.Tk apart.D.Left alne.
14.What may be talked abut fllwing the last paragraph?
A.The methd f translating vides and texts.
B.The cmbinatin f intentins and activities.
    C.The utcme f the mdel f Shu's team.
D.The applicatin f Bayesian inverse planning.
15.Which f the fllwing can be a suitable title fr the text?
A.Thery f Mind in Artificial Intelligence
B.Human-AI Similarities in Thery f Mind
    C.Develpment f Shu's Team's New Mdel
D.AI's Drawback in Grasping Human Intentins
