Why did the stryteller chse a barrel t help him escape?
Because a barrel is rund, tube-shaped and relatively small. Accrding t the three bservatins he made, that wuld make a barrel fall dwn slwly. S it was very likely that the barrel wuld help him flat and carry him away.
Why did the stryteller survive while his elder brther didn’t?
The fishermen survived because he was calm in the whirlpl, made clear bservatins and saved himself by tying himself t a barrel t help him flat, while his elder brther was t frightened and stayed in the heavy bat.
The Mske-strm lasted six hurs. This brke his bdy as the strm battered (连续猛击) him abut. It brke his sul as he suffered frm deep fright and hpelessness during the strm and lst his tw brthers. The terrr f the maelstrm has a very negative effect n his mind and bdy, which he desn’t think he will ever recver frm.
