Many f yu knw that when we are under stress, ur brain requires a certain amunt f hand-t-bdy tuching. Hwever, when circumstances are nt nly stressful but threaten us, the brain causes certain neck behavirs, which are prtective, relieving and ttally unique.

Aware that when peple are trubled, scared, cncerned, wrried, r nervus, they cver r tuch their necks, I never appreciated the ptential use f this very telling behavir until I jined the FBI.

The wrds “sn” and “huse” tgether were a threat t her and she tuched her neck in the same way my grandmther had dne 14 years earlier. That early lessn taught me t pay attentin t the neck because few peple d.
