(2024·广西柳州·二模)Researchers frm Radbud University Medical Center fund that memry champins (冠军) aren’t all that different frm us. Peple with an average (中等的;普通的) memry can als greatly imprve their memry ability by using what’s knwn as the “mind palace” methd-the secret weapn (武器) f the nvel character Sherlck Hlmes.
T d this, yu just need t picture a place yu knw very well, such as yur living rm. Then, remember this place in as many small facts as pssible, fr this is yur wn mind palace. Suppse yu want t remember a shpping list. Yu can start by spreading ut all the things yu want t buy arund yur living rm in yur mind. This means each thing n yur list is cnnected with a remembered place in yur living rm. Yu can think f the list as yu travel t that remembered place.
T research the influence f this methd n the brain, researchers gt tgether 51 vlunteers with average memry levels and withut memry training experiences befre. After frty days f daily 30-minute training perids, vlunteers dubled the number f wrds they culd remember. Fur mnths later, even withut cntinuus training, their memry perfrmance remained high.
“Once yu learn these methds and knw hw t use them, yu can keep yur gd memry withut much further training,” said Martin Dresler, prfessr frm Radbud University Medical Center.
Mrever, the training als influences the way ur brain cells (细胞) cnnect. After training, the cnnecting way f the vlunteer’s brain cells began t be like that f the memry champin cmpared t scans (扫描检查) taken befre training. Researchers believe this culd cause their increased memry.
But researchers are s interested in this research because it seems t shw that the natural ability t remember things well in a persn’s mind isn’t dwn t genes (基因). Dresler fund there was n difference in brain structure between memry champins and cmmn peple, which means memry champins are nt brn with different brains.
