Hw lng d dnkeys (驴) live? D they live lnger than hrses? Dnkeys can live fr quite a number f years, althugh there are many things t cnsider that will enable a dnkey t live a lng and healthy life. In the wild, dnkeys can live int their mid-teens, while dmesticated(驯养) dnkeys can live a much lnger life. This is mre the case in dnkeys kept as pets rather than as wrking dnkeys.
Dnkeys tend t live lnger than hrses live, and this cmes dwn t bilgical reasns and species differences. As equines(马科动物) age, it becmes mre difficult fr them t bite their fd int pieces and take in the energy they need t maintain a healthy bdy weight. Fr hrses, this can be a real prblem. Hwever, a dnkey’s digestive(消化的) system is much mre efficient, meaning a dnkey nly requires 50%-75% f the fd that a hrse f a similar size wuld need. Their ability t get the energy ut f their fd, will be able t help them survive n a diet that wuldn’t supprt a hrse f the same size and weight.
Dmestic dnkeys first came frm the African wild dnkeys, wh lived in the difficult, dry envirnment f areas f Nrtheast Africa. This means they are better suited feeding n bushes(灌木) and are better suited surviving n wild vegetatin.
That is ne f the reasns why dmesticatin has helped bth species, and hw specific feed, such as shrt cut, enables bth species t get the nutritin they need. At internatinal animal welfare charity, The Dnkey Sanctuary, part f their nging care as dnkeys age is t alter their diet as suitable. The care they get there will hpefully see them living a healthy, happy life.
8.At what age d dnkeys start t be cnsidered ld?
    A.20.
    B.30.
    C.40.
    D.50.
9.What affects hw lng a dmestic dnkey lives accrding t the text?

    C.Which cuntry it cmes frm.
    D.Whether it’s a pet r a wrking animal.

    Finding the Real Yu
Psychmetric testing — persnality testing — has been very ppular nwadays as studies shw their results t be three times mre accurate in predicting yur jb perfrmance. These tests are nw included in almst all graduate recruitment (招聘) and are widely used in the selectin f managers.
The mst ppular f these persnality tests is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicatr (MBTI). It is based n the thery that we are brn with a tendency t ne persnality type which stays mre r less fixed thrughut life. Yu answer 88 questins and are then given yur "type", such as Outging r Quiet, Feeling r Thinking.
Critics f persnality testing raise dubts abut "scial engineering". Psychlgist Dr. Clin Gill warns that the "ppular" persnality traits (特性) have their disadvantages. "Peple wh are extremely pen t new experiences can be butterflies, ging frm ne idea t the next withut mastering any f them." Hwever, the psychmetric test is here t stay, which may be why a whle sub-industry n cheating persnality tests has sprung up. "It’s pssible t cheat," admits Gill, "but having t pretend t be the persn yu are at wrk will be tiring and unhappy and prbably shrt-lived."
S can we change ur persnality? "Yur basic persnality is fixed by the time yu’re 21," says Gill, "but it can be affected by mtivatin and intelligence. If yu didn’t have the persnality type t be a dctr but desperately wanted t be ne and were intelligent enugh t master the skills, yu culd still g ahead. But trying t g t much against type fr t lng requires much energy and is actually t be suffered fr lng. I think it’s why we’re seeing this trend fr dwnshifting — t many peple trying t fit in t a type that they aren’t really suited fr."
Our interest in persnality nw exists in every part f ur lives. If yu ask an expert fr advice n anything, yu’ll prbably be quizzed abut yur persnality. But if persnality tests have any value t us, perhaps it is t free us frm the idea that all f us are full f ptential, and remind us f what we are. As they say in ne test when they ask fr yur age: pick the ne yu are, nt the ne yu wish yu were.
    12. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicatr is based n the belief that ______.
    A.certain persnality traits are cmmn.
B.persnality is largely decided frm birth.
C.sme persnality types are better than thers.
D.persnality traits are varius frm time t time.
    13. Accrding t Dr. Gill, what is the prblem with persnality tests?
A.Emplyers ften find the results unclear.
B.They may have a negative effect n takers.
C.Peple can easily lie abut their true abilities.
D.The results culd be ppsite t what emplyers want.
    14. In Dr. Gill’s view, hw easy is it t change yur persnality?
    A.It’s impssible in yur childhd.
B.It’s easy if yu have great mtivatin.
    C.It’s difficult befre the age f 21.
D.It’s unlikely because it requires much energy.
    15. What final cnclusin des the authr reach abut the value f persnality tests?
A.They are nt really wrth ding.
    B.They may encurage greater realism.
    C.They are f dubtful value t emplyers.
D.They can strengthen the idea we have f ur abilities.
