We called it Old Oak. An arbrist (树艺师) wh checked Old Oak fr my parents after the snwstrm f 1947 had prnunced it 300 years ld.
Playing beneath Old Oak, my best friend, Justine, and I made ty hrses. Frm Old Oak’s lwest branch, my dad hung a wden bard n a chain fr a swing. The back and-frth mtin f the swing and rhythmic clicking f the chain cmfrted me. I’d lie under the green umbrella, admiring Old Oak’s height — my prtectr. Time passed. I was swinging less under the tree and mre n the dance flr. Lng after my father sld the huse, Merry and I visited Old Oak when attending Verna High reunins.
Justine called last Octber. A new wner had bught the prperty and taken dwn the tree. I fund the real estate (房产) pht. In frnt f the huse lay tw huge lengths f trunk. I’d have t act fast t get a piece fr Merry and me. The agent invlved in the sale said that he wuld try t talk with the new wner. Hwever, that attempt failed. Then I turned t Jhn Zelenka, an artful arbrist, fr help. Frtunately, he sent phts f the remaining trunk pieces, cntacted the wner, and suggested slices fr my wdwrking hbbyist sn in New Hampshire.
On a cld April mrning, my husband and I met Zelenka t examine the pieces he’d cut after transprting the trunk. I culdn’t call Merry fast enugh. She was excited. Trees give us such gifts frm flwers t shade. My relatinship with Old Oak has taken n a new frm.

5.答案: A
A new wner had bught the prperty and taken dwn the tree.(一位新主人买下了这块地,把树砍了下来)"可知,Justine给作者打电话是为了告诉她有人买下了这处房产并把那棵树砍了。故选A。
Frtunately, he sent phts f the remaining trunk pieces, cntacted the wner, and suggested slices fr my wdwrking hbbyist sn in New Hampshire.(幸运的是,他给我寄来了剩下的树干碎片的照片,联系了主人,并向我在新罕布什尔州的木工爱好者儿子推荐了一些碎片)"以及最后一段"My relatinship with Old Oak has taken n a new frm.(我和老橡树的关系有了新的变化)"可推知,作者与老橡树的关系以新的方式继续,这让她感到安心。故选B。
7.答案: A
故选A。
由标题"Sunds Like Anther Sng"和"We Learn Better Frm Sngs"的内容可知,这首曲子于1761年首次印刷。
Mre children started learning the ABC sng. It helped them remember the letters.(越来越多的小孩学习ABC这首歌,它能帮助记住字母)和倒数第二段Sngs helped peple remember. Peple sang sng that tld stries. They taught their children what they knew thrugh sngs.(歌曲帮助人们记忆。 Peple can teach what they knw t children thrugh sngs.(可以通过歌曲教会孩子们知识)正确。
Wh made the ABC sng?"
12.答案: A
But the message wasn’t frm aliens — intelligent creatures frm ther parts f the universe. Instead, it’s part f a prject designed t see hw humans might react if we did get a message frm aliens."(但这条信息并不是来自外星人——来自宇宙其他地方的智能生物。 故选A项。
The idea that there might be aliens is ppular in bks and mvies. ; ;But s far, there’s been n knwn sign that they exist. Still, many scientists believe the universe is large enugh that it’s likely that ther intelligent creatures culd exist smewhere."(外星人可能存在的想法在书籍和电影中很流行。
14.答案: A
Still, many scientists believe the universe is large enugh that it’s likely that ther intelligent creatures culd exist smewhere."(尽管如此,许多科学家认为宇宙足够大,其他智慧生物很可能存在于某个地方。) A number f scientists are trying t find …f such creatures."(许多科学家正在努力寻找这种生物的……) 故选A项。
The data (the infrmatin frm the message) has nw been put n the Internet. Anyne can dwnlad it and try t figure ut what it means."(数据(消息中的信息)现在已经放到互联网上了。
16.答案: G; F; D; A; C
I like t read blgs in ther languages.(我喜欢阅读其他语言的博客。)" Fr the mst part, blggers tend t write the same way they speak,s I dn’t have t wrry much abut adpting strange terms that are nly used in writing.(在大多数情况下,博主们倾向于用他们说话的方式写作,所以我不必太担心使用那些只在写作中使用的奇怪术语。)" G"I fund them the perfect learning tl because they’re usually written in ral language.(我发现它们是完美的学习工具,因为它们通常是用口语写的。)"
Mvies are als a really gd tl, especially if yu can find subtitles in the language yu’re learning.(电影也是一个很好的工具,尤其是如果你能找到你所学语言的字幕。)"和后句"they will still keep yur brain listening and reading in the same language.(它们仍然会让你的大脑用同样的语言听和读。)" F"They dn’t always exactly match what’s being said.
Games are f curse als an excellent way f studying a new language. A lt f language learning cmputer prgrams include games. I'm super cmpetitive and if I play any f them,I can be hked fr hurs.(游戏也是学习一门新语言的好方法,我有超级好胜心,如果我玩其中任何一个,我都能被吸引好几个小时。)" D"It’s time well spent if I’m learning the language.
The hardest bit fr me is when I'm cmfrtable enugh with a language t understand mst things and make myself understd. I'm actually stuck at this stage in Nrwegian. A"That’s really uncmfrtable. 故选A。
