单数名词在句子中通常作为主语或宾语,如“Apple is a fruit”中的“Apple”。
名词复数形式表示多个事物,如“bks”表示多本书。复数名词的使用在句子中可以表示数量的增加,如“Many bks are n the shelf”中的“bks”。
一般名词加-s或-es
大部分名词在单数后加“- s”变为复数,如“cat”变为“cats”。
以“s, x, ch, sh”结尾的名词加“- es”,如“bx”变为“bxes”。
以“- ”结尾的名词,如果是外来词或抽象名词,通常加“- s”,如“pht”变为“phts”。
以“- ”结尾的名词,如果是有生命的名词,通常加“- es”,如“tmat”变为“tmates”。
以辅音字母加y结尾的名词
把y改为I,再加es.例如:butterfly变为butterflies
以-f或-fe结尾的名词
以“- f”或“- fe”结尾的名词,通常变“- f”为“- v”再加“- es”,如“knife”变为“knives”。
有些以“- fe”结尾的名词直接加“- s”,如“safe”变为“safes”。
有些名词单复数形式相同,如fish, deer, sheep, Chinese, Japanese ...
有些名词的复数形式是不规则的,需要特别记忆,如:child (children)ft (feet)tth(teeth)man(men)wman(wmen)
一般在单数形式后面加-s
以s、x、ch、sh等结尾的词,词尾加-es
以辅音字母加y结尾的词,变y为i,再加-es
以f或fe结尾的词,把f或fe变成v,再加-es
以结尾的词,无生命的加-s,有生命的加-es
