The team plan t imprve the first design and hpe t make the chpsticks available t cnsumers next year.
The chpsticks culd find a receptive audience in Japan, where the traditinal diet tends t be high in salt due t the use f cmpnents such as mis and sy sauce. The average Japanese adult cnsumes abut 10 grams f salt a day, duble the amunt recmmended by the Wrld Health Organizatin (WHO). The health ministry has prpsed reducing daily salt intake t a maximum f 7.5 grams fr men and 6.5 grams fr wmen.
The chpsticks use “very weak electricity — nt enugh t affect the human bdy — t adjust the functin f ins such as sdium chlride and sdium glutamate t change the perceptin f taste by making fd seem t taste strnger r weaker”, Kirin said in a statement.
Miyashita and Kirin said clinical tests n peple wh fllw a lw-sdium diet had cnfirmed that the device enhances the salty taste f lw-sdium fd by abut 1.5 times. High salt intake can cntribute t high bld pressure, the leading cause f heart attacks and strkes. “T prevent these diseases, we need t reduce the amunt f salt we take,” said Kirin researcher Ai Sat. “If we try t avid taking less salt in a cnventinal way, we wuld need t suffer the pain f cutting ur favurite fd frm ur diet, r suffer eating fd with very little taste.” Miyashita’ s lab has als invented a lickable TV screen that imitates the flavurs f varius fds.
29. What des the secnd paragraph mainly tell us?
A. Hw the chpsticks wrk.B. What the team plans t d.
C. What the device is designed fr.D. Hw a sense f saltiness is created.
30. What can be inferred frm paragraph three?
A. The chpsticks may be ppular in Japan.
B. The Japanese traditinal diets are high in salt.
C The WHO advised an adult t take 2 0 grams f salt a day.
D. A wman shuld eat at least 6.5 grams f salt everyday.
31. What is a direct result f the chpsticks accrding t clinical tests?
A. Fd can have strnger r weaker flavurs.
B. Lw-sdium fd tastes saltier than it actually is.
C. Peple are less likely t have heart attacks and strkes.
D. We may nt be able t eat ur favurite fd anymre.
32. What can be a suitable title fr the text?
A. Japan cnducts clinical tests n lw-sdium diets
B. Japanese high-tech salty chpsticks gain ppularity
C. Japan invents electrnic chpsticks making fd taste salty
D. Japanese researchers reduce sdium levels in ppular dishes
A 30. A 31. B 32. C
根据第二段中的“The chpsticks wrk using electrical stimulatin and a mini-cmputer wrn n the eater’s wristband. The device transmits sdium ins frm fd, thrugh the chpsticks, t the muth where they create a sense f saltiness, says Hmei Miyashita, a prfessr at Meiji University in Tky, whse labratry cllabrated with the fd and drink manufacturer Kirin t develp the device. 故选A。
根据第三段中的“The chpsticks culd find a receptive audience in Japan(这种筷子能够在日本找到接受它们的人群)”可推测出,这种筷子可能在日本会受欢迎,因此A选项正确;根据“where the traditinal diet tends t be high in salt due t the use f cmpnents such as mis and sy sauce”可直接得出B选项,是直接信息,因此可排除B选项;根据“The average Japanese adult cnsumes abut 10 grams f salt a day, duble the amunt recmmended by the Wrld Health Organizatin(WHO).”可推知,10克是世界卫生组织推荐的盐日摄入量的两倍,所以世界卫生组织推荐的是每日摄入5克盐,因此可排除C选项;根据“The health ministry has prpsed reducing daily salt intake t a maximum f 7.5 grams fr men and 6.5 grams fr wmen. 故选A。
根据最后一段中的“Miyashita and Kirin said clinical tests n peple wh fllw a lw-sdium diet had cnfirmed that the device enhances the salty taste f lw-sdium fd by abut 1.5 times.
通读全文,尤其是第一段“In what they claim is a wrld first, researchers in Japan have develped chpsticks that artificially create the taste f salt, as part f effrts t reduce sdium(钠) levels in sme f the cuntry’s mst ppular dishes.
