I recently went n my first verseas vacatin t Greece. I was with my in-laws and my wife, and naturally, we went t restaurants whenever we were hungry. Having lived in Nrth America fr my entire life, I had certain expectatins f restaurants: Yu g in, peruse the menu, place yur rder, get yur fd, eat it, pay, tip, and g n yur way. I knew that Eurpean cuntries did nt generally participate in tipping culture, but I didn’t understand hw that fundamentally altered the entire business interactin.
Whenever we finished eating, we wuld relax with the dishes that we were very bviusly dne with, chat fr a bit, and wait fr the bill. Wait, wait, and wait!

Everyne was allwed t mve at their wn pace, pay when they were ready t pay, and leave when they were ready t leave. The servers wuld expect the custmers t apprach r signal them that they were dne, rather than checking every few minutes t get things mving. What a nvel experience! I wish we had figured it ut sner.
