    A Read the article abut a natural disaster in Canada. Then answer the questins belw.
    Because it was nt rdinary rain—it turned t ice as it fell thrugh the cld air. It rained fr six days and as much as ten centimetres f ice cllected n rads, trees and pwer lines.
    Why was the strm in 1998 unusual in Canada?
    It caused many pwer lines t fall dwn and many peple had n electricity. It als made the rads dangerus t walk r drive n. In additin, many hmes were damaged and many peple lst their businesses.
    What prblems did the ice strm cause?
    N. Because the huge amunt f ice made the whle area very dangerus. As the ice started t melt, it fell frm the rfs f buildings and trees like knives. Mst f the pwer lines were s badly damaged that they culd nt be repaired.

Hwever, the ice kept falling. 然而,冰一直在下落。【用法】keep ding sth. 意为“保持/一直/继续做某事”,强调动作的持续性,相当于词组g n ding sth。The child kept crying until he saw his mther.= The child went n crying until he saw his mther. 那个小孩一直哭到见到他妈妈为止。 【拓展】keep n ding sth. 意为“继续做某事;反复做某事”,强调动作的反复性。Dn’t keep n making the same mistake.不要反复犯同样的错误。
    3. It caused branches and whle trees t fall dwn. 这导致树枝折断,整棵大树倒下。【用法】cause sb / sth t d sth. 意为“导致/引起/造成某人/某物做某事”。The fire yesterday caused five peple t die.昨天的那场火灾导致五人死亡。His humur caused us t laugh.他的幽默引得我们笑了起来。
